Happy New Year!

I started reading 'The Sun Also Rises' this morning. I started with 'Sun' over 'A Farewell to Arms' because it was Hemingway's first published novel, and because the subject matter seemed the most interesting to me out of the two. First off, it's great, and I can't believe I haven't gotten to it until just now -- it's criminal, really -- second, I'm struck with how many similarities there are to my own first novel, 'True Grandeur,' even though I've never read any of Hemingway's work until now... streaky, difficult writers and tempting, mysterious socialites? Yes, please. I love 'The Sun Also Rises' already.
