Elizabeth Whitton is an award-winning author who writes fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Her debut contemporary fantasy YA novel "HOUSES OF THE OLD BLOOD" was winner of the 2018 Aurora Award for Best YA Fiction. Her short story, "THE CALLING", (written under Elizabeth Grotkowski) was a 2018 Aurora finalist for Best Short Fiction. 
Elizabeth is happiest pounding on her laptop after midnight while listening to alt-rock and ignoring pleas from her family to go to bed. She lives with her husband in Calgary, Alberta, just an hour’s drive away from the spectacular Rocky Mountains.

I had just won a major writing award and felt keen pressure to live up to it. In the end, I realized I was demanding perfection of myself. As soon as I realized this, I laughed. I've never been a perfect writer so why would I expect things to change now? The writer's block vanished, and I could write again.(less)
