A long-time resident of Seward, Alaska, Mareth is a writer and wilderness guide. I enjoy telling stories, and the process of fiddling with words on a page to tell those stories as effectively and powerfully as possible. But most of the time, when I sit down to write, it isn't because of any particular inspiration. It's because I have a story I'm working on, and I know if I keep chipping away at that story, bit by bit, it'll slowly get to be a better story.

A First-Time Visitor to the Nebulas

A quick note here, as I just got back from attending the Nebulas in Pittsburgh. Put on by SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America), it’s a little like the Oscars for genre fiction. I had a marvelous time, and came home with far too many books.
