Jolene Whitten was born in Bend, Oregon, and due to her father's Air Force career, also lived in Washington, France, California, England, and Nevada before moving to Texas at the age of fifteen. Other than a couple of years spent in Montana, she and her husband have continued to make Texas their home. After graduating from Midwestern State University, she spent one year as a high school English teacher. I have two answers for you!
First, the 1940s London of A J Pearce's novel, Dear Mrs. Bird. Why would I want to live in London during WWII? Because my mom grew up in England during the war and after hearing all of her stories about it over the years, I'd like to experience what she lived through as a girl, firsthand.

Though a lot of murders seem to occur there, ironically it seems like a fun and relaxing place, filled with interesting people. I can just see myself sitting in the bistro, drinking coffee and munching on a delicious pastry!(less)

So, while I'm taking my morning walk I'll start thinking about my characters, and their lives just sort of take shape in my mind. Or maybe someone will say something to me in a conversation totally unrelated to my book, that will spark an idea and I'll make note of it and use that idea later when I'm writing.(less)

Lots of Changes!

I'm obviously terrible at keeping this blog current! My fourth book was just published and I look forward to hearing what you think of Daisy's Design. I've also ventured out more into the world of social media, including Instagram and Facebook. Meanwhile, I'm working on another novel, which is quite different from anything else I've written. I'll try to do better at keeping this blog current...wou Read more of this blog post »
