Meiling Colorado is the author of the post-apocalyptic fantasy novel Aftermath. Born in London, she spent most of her childhood on tour with her parents, who were dancers. She grew up in a multi-ethnic family which, coupled with their semi-nomadic bohemian lifestyle, broadened her perception of the world. Mostly homeschooled, where many children were beginning to read and enjoy Dr. Seuss, Meiling was also reading and acting out scenes from Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream with her mother. She was an avid reader from a very early age, deriving great pleasure from reading countless authors, different genres and styles, and channeling great part of her creativity into writing poems and short stories. What he goes through is not easy, and it lays the foundation for further development in the sequel. As for actual moments, I found writing the scene where they find Michael at the back of his house strangely satisfying. I am not sure what that says of me, hahaha! (less)

I find I get stuck when I try to push my characters too hard, in a direction they do not want to go, with only a plot objective in mind and no creative impulse. When this happens I usually work on another part, deepening character background and development, and coming back to the issue from a fresh new angle. (less)

I must admit that upon starting When Darkness Reigns by Preston L. Marshall I was not sure what to expect.
