Robert Smith writes books. After a lifetime of what can only be described as work, he now follows his passion and writes books. Books that make you think; and books that cross genres. Alternative history, sci-fi, contemporary and historical narrative non-fiction.

The Southeast Asia trilogy spans the formation and magnificence of the Khmer Empire, the builders of Angkor Wat in "The Kings of Angkor," and moves onto the kingdom that finally conquered the Angkorian empire in "The Kings of Ayutthaya." The trilogy concludes with "The Kings of the Toungoo Empire," the largest empire in the history of Southeast Asia, and one many have never heard of. If you are visiting Cambodia, Thailand, or Myanmar these books are the perfect companion. If you are

They are not the Annunaki as portrayed in the mythology but the reason why becomes clear should you chose to wend your way through the series.

I have currently finished my first draft of "Murder in the Blood" my first venture into the crime genre. I know it goes against the trend of writers to cross-genres but it makes writing more interesting.(less)

My interest has always been history and it seemed logical to write about a subject I have an interest in. I based my first novel "1809; The Year The Freed The Slaves" in America. A historical novel with a difference, particularly as you know how it ends from the title. The sequel "The Georgia Secession," again gives the ending away. The question to be answered in both books is "How do you get there?"
I added two shorter books "The Annunaki," and "The Pastor, The Atheist and The Unbeliever" before embarking on writing about Siam and Myanmar, in the case of the Toungoo Empire. What inspired me? An avid reader, could I do better? That is up to you to judge.(less)

I'm back!

Over the past few years I have had trouble logging on to Goodreads but today I cracked it and am attempting to update my author page.

There have been a few changes in the interim period, the five books in the Annunaki series being the most notable but I would like to update some of the information given. Once a book has been published it cannot be unpublished. It can be delisted but its shell remai Read more of this blog post »
