Can you fly in your dreams?
I remember when I was a child, I used to have this recurring dream in which I'm happily flying...
Growing up I gradually lost the ability to experience this flight state.
It started with dreams about me just trying to fly but not reaching very high or not staying up there for long; and eventually... not rising above the ground at all.
As this was a frustrating experience, I tried to figure out why have my subconscious deprived me of the privilege of doing the impossible as I'm drifting off to sleep and logging in to my own impossible world.
After all, our mind produces fiction by the second while we dream, so how come mine couldn't accept the notion of flying, giving the circumstances that it now exists in an imaginary world?
I then realized that a large portion of my belief and innocence has died along my sobering adult years. I became heavyhearted, suspicious… how can you fly in such terms?
But I just couldn't accept it. Couldn't give up!
I fought it. I hated it, explored it… sometimes through my art - a mixture of emotions visualized before my eyes (very often verifying what I was trying to suppress).
I've struggled to purify myself from everything that ever hurt me, to let go of disappointments and seek new paths to happiness or maybe even plain relief.
These days I'm flying in my dreams like a child!
The child in me believes.
…Do you?
