Dee Dee Prince is the author of “Unmarked Escape Routes, a Memoir of Forgiveness.” The genesis for the book started when Ms. Prince’s granddaughter asked to be told stories about her deceased grandmother, Rhoda. Ms. Prince created a scrapbook to tell stories about Rhoda’s life.

This led Ms. Prince on a genealogy quest to fill in missing pieces of her mother’s early life in England. She combined her love of writing stories, family research and a memoir writing course to piece together not only her mother’s past, but her own childhood.

Ms. Prince lives in Laguna Niguel, California.

It essentially tapped into sub-conscious thoughts to capture details about the characters being used. Then when we got stuck we could go back over the sheets that would help kickstart new thoughts. It was effective for me. There are however some days that good writing just eludes me and I have to settle for less than stellar and re-work it later.(less)
