New York Times best-selling author. Fulbright scholar, Army vet.

Goldman's 5th novel The Debtor Class (Permanent Press, 2015) is a 'gripping ...triumphant read,' says Publishers Weekly. A future cult classic with 'howlingly funny dialogue,' says Booklist.

Isaac: A Modern Fable (Permanent Press, 2012) is "an overcoming-the-odds love story that demands to be read, with characters so real that we wish we could reach into the book and give them a hug.” -- BookList.

A Fulbright Scholar, his writing has appeared in Columbia Journalism Review, Utne Reader, The Nation, National Review, Rolling Stone, The Ring, The New York Times, and elsewhere. His previous novel The Barfighter was nominated as a 2009 Notable Book by the American Library Association.

DIGGING DEEPER

By Ivan G. Goldman

JUST WHO IS HUNTER BIDEN?

He's a DC lobbyist. With a veep daddy, that makes him an influence peddler. He received a Navy Reserve commission when he was over the max age (Did he go to OCS? Doesn't look like it.) Got discharged for cocaine use, probably under 'honorable' conditions even though other service people get other than honorable discharges for this offense.

I gave up on this book because the author clearly invents exact quotes for conversations in which he couldn't possibly know precisely what was said. In an author's note before chapter 1 he says "Scenes and dialogue in this book are drawn from a const ...more

A brilliant, artistic work that belongs in the company of Hemingway & Fitzgerald at their best. If the author can get me to care about a New York society woman who's not as rich as her friends she's created magic. The characters are memorable, the se ...more

Herbert Marcuse
“The so-called consumer society and the politics of corporate capitalism have created a second nature of man which ties him libidinally and aggressively to the commodity form. The need for possessing, consuming, handling and constantly renewing the gadgets, devices, instruments, engines, offered to and imposed upon the people, for using these wares even at the danger of one’s own destruction, has become a “biological” need.”
Herbert Marcuse

Harry Truman
“Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home--but not for housing. They are strong for labor--but they are stronger for restricting labor's rights. They favor minimum wage--the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all--but they won't spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine--for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing--but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it.”
Harry S. Truman
