But I have had some pretty mysterious experiences with elderly people who were close to passing away. It has almost seemed like those close to death know more than they should. Lol. My great grandma seemed to know I wasn't going to be able to attend the college I'd had my heart set on. And a woman from my church somehow knew my unborn child was a boy before we did. I've always wondered if those closer to heaven can sense things others can't. That definitely might make for an interesting new book! (less)

Do names have meaning?

Someone once approached me at an event and asked if my characters names held any significance. The answer is a resounding Yes!
I absolutely love hidden meanings and playing around with things like names. Many of my books feature character names with meanings that relate to the story or the characters personality or fate.
While not every name in my books hold a secret or special meaning you will fi Read more of this blog post »

CS Lewis describes the four types of loves in an educational but interesting way. He throws in some humor too. I found myself giggling one minute and in deep thought the next.

“Those who do not believe scripture cannot understand scripture and therefore are not qualified to try to explain scripture.”
Layla M. Gatlin

“God is a just God. He wouldn't command us to do something if it wasn't possible for us to do it.”
Layla M. Gatlin, When He Speaks

“Worry is a tool the devil uses to distract you from your relationship with God and keep you from growing spiritually.”
Layla M. Gatlin, When He Speaks

“We cannot say we are against evil but make exceptions for it in some circumstances.
The bible when listing sins only listed one sin with an allowance and that was divorce.
No other sin in the bible had an "unless" or "except in the case of" after it.
Why do we think we can make exceptions for sin if God doesn't?”
Layla M. Gatlin

“Free will may be the cause of evil but it's not an excuse for it.”
Layla M. Gatlin

“Experience doesn't trump scripture. And neither does a lack of experience.”
Layla M. Gatlin

“I'd rather live in love than in fear.”
Layla M. Gatlin

“Help people. Trust people. Love people. And let God get the vengeance if they abuse it.”
