Welcome to our second issue of COFFEE WINE & WORDS literary magazine! As we leave February behind and navigate our way through March, we find ourselves celebrating not only the contributions of Black Americans but also women. I’d say these two months can be a wonderful time to be a Black woman, more than anything. It’s the one time of year where intersectional feminism matters the most. The cross street between what it means to be Black, and a woman. In our current social climate, white-dominated businesses and creative spaces are finally making room for us. As you know, I’ve never needed anyone to make room for me, hence, this magazine. But for those who do find themselves wanting to be allies, and giving Black women a voice, let this not be just a passing fancy. I know it’s trendy to care about Black lives and Black plight at the moment, but when the dust settles, your actions will be what people remember most. Black women matter every single day of the year. We are the trendsetters who helped build this country too. We are delicate, resilient, innovative, and wise. We are here to stay and continue to build what’s rightfully ours.
