Hello! I’m Brett Biaggio. Always a passionate reader and storyteller, I began writing The Pacific Prep Series in 2013 after my best friend passed away. As I struggled to cope with the death of my friend, this story emerged from the grief, and with that parts of my experiences and emotions are imprinted on the characters you’ll journey with.

Hi Brett, so sorry to hear of your loss, which clearly affected you in a profound way. I have always advocated the importance of writing, in terms of dealing with our emotions. It is by writing from an emotional starting point, one can begin to develop real life characters within the story. Good luck with your debut novel. Do you ever find it difficult, to put into words, the raw pain and emotion of the characters?

Expressing my emotion through my characters has been one of the most natural things I have ever done. The more powerful the emotion, the more liberated I feel when I express it through my writing.

My method of writing is to listen to the same playlists, sit in the same locations, read the last chapter I wrote, and just go with whatever I pen. I feel the flow of the story, especially with raw emotion, is more natural. There are characters in my novel that die, whom if I went with my mind they would have survived. I am attached to these characters so when they hurt I hurt. But in life, you can't control that, so I decided to go with the flow. (less)
