JesusforJapan

My first day as a blogger. This old geezer is a retired missionary to Japan. I have written and published 2 books, one's in the writing and have notes ready for 3 or 4 more.

Inspiration for all this came from 25 years in Japan, speaking the language, pretending I could understand the language and now grateful I do not have to speak the language in the ole geezers'retirement place.

One needs to look with suspicion at people who lived in Japan, and now are ëxperts"in Japanese culture. One needs years of sitting on tatami with friend, and be able to really speak the language before you even understand the elementary bits.

My first book, Jesus for Japan: Creating Cultural Bridges to Christianity, is the result of 25 years of speaking, listening, research, reading and well, suffering. Suffering with the language, the culture, the climate, the separation from adult children, the lack of money, illnesses - I prefer to shoot from the hip.

So keep reading and you might find out some interesting things about missionaries.
