For example, I listened to "Running to Stand Still," by U2 over and over again and other songs from the Joshua Tree album as I wrote "Running Away to Home," because the mood of the songs helped create the right emotional mood for me.

I can write about something that moves me in the hope that it will bless or encourage or entertain others--…moreIt is truly the gift that keeps on giving. I can write about something that moves me in the hope that it will bless or encourage or entertain others--that others will be able to relate or connect. When they are actually blessed or encouraged or entertained--when they are able to relate, it is a gift that they appreciate for themselves. They aren't appreciating the writing in order to give back to me as the writer--there are tons of dead writers from whom we benefit. But since I'm still alive at this point, I'm able to find joy in knowing that they actually found joy in what I produced.
