Two modern updates of Christian classics by Dolores Kimball
I would like to recommend two well-done modern classics by Dolores Kimball: The Attributes of God in Modern English by Arthur W. Pink and The Holy War: In Modern English by John Bunyan.

The Attributes of God is a wonderful book, and Kimball has done a professional light edit of the work to make it easier to read without changing the original meaning or sacrificing any of the material. The scripture quotes have also been updated from the original King James Version to the New King James V...

Keeping the Heart: The Great Work of a Christian

John Flavel (1627-1691) was a 17th-century Puritan minister and author. One of his books was titled, “A Saint Indeed, or The Great Work of a Christian in Keeping the Heart in the Several Conditions of Life.” Over the years, this long title has often been shortened to “Keeping the Heart.”
I recently finished a modern update of Keeping the Heart, and I want to provide a brief summary of some of Flavel’s Biblical teaching in this practical book on the Christian life.

These books have updated language and use modern formatting to assist with understanding. They also make use of footnotes with additional scripture references. You can download them as PDFs or eBooks.
Having worked on these f...

Approaches to Modernizing Christian Classics
When updating and modernizing Christian classics, there are several different approaches. Should you only update spelling and punctuation? Should you rearrange sentences, update the wording, or abridge the text?
Over the past year, I’ve been working on a series of updates to older Christian books. I love learning from older Saints, seeing both how much we have in common in our faith as well as being challenged by ideas and emphases that are not as common in the church today. When I consider w...

How to get updates for Kindle eBooks
I thought it would be helpful to explain how you can get updates for Kindle eBooks that you’ve already purchased. I recently published minor corrections for two Kindle eBooks, but getting those updates is not as straightforward as you might think.
Amazon and ebook updatesWhen a Kindle book is republished, Amazon does not automatically push the updates to users who already own it. Even if you delete the book from your Kindle and redownload it, you’ll get the version you purchased rather than...
