Sheryn Munir is a big fan of romances. After reading countless lesbian romance novels based in Western countries, she wanted to read a lesfic based in India. She didn’t know how long she’d have to wait for that wish to come true, so she decided to have a crack at writing one herself. Falling Into Place, out in January 2018, is the result of that endeavour.
Sheryn was born in Lucknow and grew up in Delhi, India. Though she started writing from the age of seven, she was only recently inspired to write an entire book in a genre close to her heart that is about her own people. I've been reading and enjoying lesfic for years now, but most of the stories I read are based in the US, some in the UK or Australia. I've loved these books, still do, and continue to read anything and everything in lesfic that I can. But the absence of a lesbian romance based in India, mired in my own reality, always rankled.
Of course, there are some "serious" literary works in India that can be described as queer fiction, but where were the light, frothy, feel-good stories about women loving women? So I decided to write one. And here we are.(less)
