Until then, I’d always thought of myself as a numbers guy, though as a young man I was intensely interested in Eastern religion and various meditations. My career though, consisted of reading financial reports and handling clients. I never planned to be a writer.
There had been some recent momentous events before that morning, related to each other. First off, my beloved wife died of cancer at the age of 46. We’d been married 24 years, and my sons and I felt her loss deeply. My oldest, Carlo, decided to collect money for one of my wife’s passions, the education of Indian girls. In 2012, at the age of 22, he flew solo around the world, becoming the youngest pilot to do so.
When I woke up with this idea about interweaving Carlo’s actual experiences in with a magical and inspiring story, which would share my beliefs about the afterlife, it just wouldn’t let me go.
