Well

Been a bit, I see. You look good. Those new slacks? Anyway, I released another book and believe I failed to mention it here. I know. I know. Gasp! So, it's called OLD MAN RIDER and it's been out since October of 2022. It involves Bishop Rider, of course, and deals with not only his end of days, but his beginning too. I also hit other points of his life, middle points I guess you could call them, with it all dovetailing to a conclusion years in the making. It was bittersweet, I'll admit, but as I've said in other places, I'm happier it occurred at all. I hope you check it out. If you do, lemme know what you thought/think. I, along with Rider, would appreciate the discussion.

oh, hello there

Well, fancy meeting you here. I kid. I kid. But it HAS been a while it looks like. You good? Still washing your hands? Yeah, you are. I can tell,
Anyway...
Brand New Dark, Bishop Rider's first solo outing, seems to be going well. People seem to like it. Sure I'd love more reviews, but hey, what are you going to do? It is what it is and I see no changes coming. Still, things could be worse. I have to acknowledge that. In writing news, something else has occurred, and yes, it IS related to Bishop Rider. Am I that predictable? Don't answer that. Not while I'm still typing, anyway. So yeah, Bishop's story, it's almost done, and yes I know I killed him in ALL OF THEM TO BURN, but that's the thing about telling a person's story out of sequence, it allows for some wiggle room. It's not quite complete, no, but look for Rider's final adventure in early 2023 if all goes according to plan. See also: back to reviews. If possible, yes, I turn 49 tomorrow. If you're feeling generous, have read this far, and have checked out any of my books already, maybe leave an old man a review. But only if you want to. Seriously, I'm not here to twist your arm. We all have lives. We all do what we can. All right, that's it. Just checking in. See you when I see you,
B.

wow, long time

Been a bit. Hope you are well. So, looks like ALL OF THEM TO BURN is doing more than I ever thought possible. A good thing, and now stands just 6 copies behind the entire to date sell run of my first book, A BETTER KIND OF HATE. I believe this means a WOOHOO is in order. Besides that, well, I just wanted to say that I'm not as done with Bishop Rider as I thought I was. Weird, I know, especially once you go and kill your main character. Anyway, expect BRAND NEW DARK, an entire book of Rider only stories, to drop summer 2021. Again, WOOHOO!
Be safe, friends,
Beau.

oh, hello there

Well, it's been a bit. Don't know if anyone is getting this blog either. There once was a display that would show me views but it has been gone for awhile now. Anyway, just wanted to check in and say you now have 25 days to reach minimum safe distance until ALL OF THEM TO BURN is released. I kid. I kid. Just trying on the countdown voice from the end of Aliens if you must know. This leads me to another pop culture reference if I'm honest, and one which sat front and center once this new book began to take shape in my mind.
Part of the journey is the end.
So true.
So true that it took me to a place I never thought I'd take my main character.
Anyway, it was fun. THIS was fun. And I'll always write I suppose, but endings, they need to happen. They are, in fact, inevitable. See you when I see you,
B

ALL OF THEM TO BURN

Well, I received the cover to my new collection last week. Was there some dancing (re: HOLY SHITTING!) in response? Yeah, there might have been. If I'm honest, there might still be. At least I've stopped looking at it multiple times throughout the day! Anyway, that's new. As well a new gig as a contributor over at DO SOME DAMAGE, where I'll do my best to spread some Friday Love, well, every Friday. On top of that, and this is very preliminary, but a little bit of Brand New Bishop Rider might be coming into the world after ALL OF THEM TO BURN. Other than those things, I hope the one or two of you who read this are well. Keep reading, you guys. Keep writing. Kick all of the asses, take all of the names!

Season Finale

Well, we did it. Beau Book Nook Beginnings has ended for the year. 17 weeks, 14 authors, and perhaps a little too much Beau. We also sold enough books to warrant a season 2. Woo-hoo! Means I might see some of you next May. if not, keep on keepin on. And long live crime fiction!

Phase 2?

Getting to the point where I believe a sophomore class will occur in regards to Beau's Book Nook. It's not quite a done deal as of yet, but man, we sell a few more books and I think the stars will align. So much so that I might be able to pull off a season finale of sorts, with a voice over stating: NEXT SEASON, ON BEAU'S BOOK NOOK!
Anyway, we shall see.
see you when I see you,
B.

CHOPPIN BROCOLI

So we're finally selling books at Beau's Book Nook. Was tough there for a bit at the beginning but hey, they are moving now. Better yet: we've actually sold out of one whole author! Ryan Sayles's Goldfinches! Purdy cool, that. As for me, well, I should have a story coming out of Story and Grit sometime soon, and possibly Punk Noir Magazine. I just recorded a bit for WriterTypes involving summer reads, and over again at Punk Noir, an interview in regards to the life and times of a certain Bishop Rider. All in all, not a bad July. Anyway, see you when I see you,
B

A Frustrating Birth

Been a bit. Busy as always it seems during boat season. As for Beau's Book Nook, hey, we now have sales! For a while we didn't, the first 4 weeks of the season to be honest, and out of that frustration Beau's Book Nook Beginnings was born. It's just me messing around on video giving small little takes on books we have at the Nook, the Nook itself, and whatever comes across my mind at the time. As a bonus, it has morphed into a sort of spin-off that has been dubbed "Not Beau's Book Nook" and will run out of Out of the Gutter Online every now and then. Purdy cool, that. As ever, we must get the word out! The greatness which is crime fiction demands it! As a side note, in regards to my own books, and only if you're so inclined, both A Better Kind of Hate and The Big Machines Eats could use some reviews. It's a Hail Mary, I know, and I realize we are all busy with life, but I offer my appreciation to whoever might find the time.
Until I blog again,
Beau.

Beau's Book Nook part 2

Well, it has begun: we are now live over at Beau's Book Nook! I repeat: things are a go! In association with my own publisher, Down and Out Books, and presented by Grand River Dinner Cruises, we now offer a selection of crime fiction for your purchasing pleasure.
Fingers crossed we sell out and phase 2 can be implemented.
Anyway, if yer so inclined, stop on by!
