I wrote Naked Scotland because I have always noticed the embarrassing lack of books about the REAL Scotland. There have only ever been two options:

1) Books about the differences between the US and the UK that will give Scotland about a paragraph at most, and focus on England for the rest of it.
2) Touristy guidebooks that make Scotland out to be a tartan-clad caricature of itself, which doesn't reflect the day-to-day reality of life there at all.

The real Scotland I know is SO much more than haggis, kilts, and bagpipes. The real Scotland I know also deserves its own book. Naked Scotland was a book that needed to be written, so I wrote it.(less)
