However, one character emerged during my research on indigenous Australians. I was privileged to sit with a wonderful and generous Gundungurra elder, Aunty Val Mulcahy. I spent many hours discussing the book and hearing about her own experiences. Ellin's character is based on Aunty Val. Sadly, Aunty has now passed into the Dreaming.(less)
