The Dark Forest

In many ways I enjoyed this second book of The Three Body Problem series more than the first because the narrative appeared easier to follow (possibly with the benefit of the TV series too). I was less often trying to understand what the story was and could instead focus on what was happening and the various plot twists. The humanity just seemed better observed in this book too. Various speculative science fiction elements echoed ideas in the Expanse series, which rather than sounding derivative, helped understand the context and the scientific ideas.
