Christian Fantasy?
Sounds strange... I know. But I really really like fantasy and adventure books. Sometimes the crazier the better. On occasion when I have exhausted searching for TV series with "Space" in the name on Netflix, I will peruse the fantasy books online.
Most are ridiculously sexualized or can't seem to get through a paragraph without dropping some unwanted curse-bombs, or the writing is so horrific that a paragraph is all you will get through before nodding off with the Kindle in your hands. Needless to say, the titles are limited that include GOOD stories with ACCEPTABLE values built into them.
As a Christian, my goal is to reach others with my faith, and so I use my talent of writing (probably my only talent!) to tell the stories that swim around in my mind all day while still maintaining the positive messages of hope, love, and forgiveness.
I create fantastical worlds and conflicted characters, magical powers and strange creatures, deep plots with complex twists and unpredictable outcomes...all while attempting to share my faith. Is this okay to do? Can a Christian use fantasy elements to tell a story and share their faith?
A lot of prayer and advice-seeking went into the first book The Watcher Key, and I strongly believe that the message of Christ can certainly be shared through this avenue.
