Summer thoughts

Arizona is just as hot as Texas. Well... in some places. Thankfully I'm living up in the mountains. Mountains? Who knew Arizona had mountains. But it does. And a national forest, too.
It's pretty here. I'm in a big city, but most of the city is hidden in the massive number of trees everywhere and it looks like a small, rural town.
It's great.
It's also quiet.
I'm guessing it'll get pretty hot long about August, but right now it's still cool enough in the morning that there's a chill in the air.
Don't try to use the stove for dinner though, the kitchen gets way too hot.
So, what's it like where you are this summer?

It's sunday, do you know where your cheese is?

Cheese! Yummy to munch on but when it's something you're reading it might turn your stomach.

Too many newbie authors fall back on cheesy plots, dialog, and characters. These are things that make the newbie chuckle, but unfortunately all those things do for their readers is make them put the book down or even toss it in the trash.

Don't do that to yourself. At least, not if you are writing with the intention of other people reading what you wrote. Take a step back, get into the point of view of a complete stranger reading your writing, and see how it actually looks.

Then take a red pen (so to speak) and start getting rid of the cheese.

Brand new blog

A brand new blog. A white, pristine, perfect. And blank. It's always hard to start writing a new blog because so many different ideas swirl around, wanting to be displayed. But which to pick? What to say? Once you start typing, the page isn't blank any more and you're headed down the path.
It can be very hard to take the first step down that path. What if you don't like the journey? What if you don't like what's at the end? What if you never get to the end? What if you do, then what? Questions, all fraught with adventure and danger. Do you dare face what you might run into? Maybe it's better just to talk about blogging. What if you can't think of something to write every day? Your readers might go away. Then what?
Ah well, took late now. The words have inserted themselves into the page and it's no longer blank.
The journey has begun, for better or worse. Where will it lead?
Who knows.
We'll find out.
