Bookstores, Libraries, and The Someone New

When I was a kid I went to no less than eleven schools in twelve years.* And every time I moved to a new town, I’d look for two things -- the bookstore and the library. Those were the places where I knew I would be safe in whatever unfamiliar town I had just been dropped into. Bookstores were my sanctuaries in a new town and books were my first friends.
