Interviewing for non-fiction
I have two new interviews posted this week, one for Apex Magazine and one for my position at Colorado State University. As my writing career gets going, I find that interviewing people is an exciting part of the process.
In the case of Apex Magazine's cover artist interviews, I get to interact with many different types of personalities. My interview of Apex Magazine's February cover artist, Julia Griffin, is live now at https://www.apex-magazine.com/intervi.... I have a couple of exciting new interviews coming up too, where I was able to go off the plan a little bit and really dig into what an artist is hoping for.
For CSU, I'm enjoying the articles and interviews I write based on scientific ideas. In particular, those interviews are almost always in person, though a few, like my latest one at https://engr.source.colostate.edu/env..., had to be through email for logistical reasons.
I find the science writing to be a bit more of a challenge since I am not, in fact, a scientist. Since I've been an artist for over twenty years, I can relate well with the artists I interview for Apex. For the engineers and scientists, my research for each article is both interesting and a challenge, one that I look forward to each time.
