Thank you, Kirsten! It's such a thorny issue and I'm certainly not an expert but I hope it's something the community will start wrestling with more.

Last year I changed my comment settings to friends only after a string of spam and abusive comments from random people who were mad I didn't like their favorite book. I do miss getting to hear from other people but having those limitations in place has been good for my peace of mind. It's something I'll probably revisit eventually. (Kathleen vouched for you so I'll make an exception to my rule, if you still want to friend me.)(less)

I'm hoping to put together a Favorite Erotic Romance list eventually so I'll beg off on giving you a whole list. But here are a few favorite authors besides my beloved Sierra Simone to get you started: Tiffany Reisz, Elia Winters, and Alexis Hall. I haven't read much erotica so I can't help you there.(less)

A slow start to this fantasy romance but I was utterly invested in Malachus's quest to be reunited with the mother-bond that would turn him into a full-fledged dragon shifter and the ways that Halani factored in. I'm a sucker for a sickbed scene, aft ...more

Re-read (November 2025):
This was my favorite book of the series and I was worried it wouldn't hold up, given how my last couple of KITC re-reads have gone. But I really did enjoy it! I was surprised again by how much I related to Marie, given that we

“Your life is the people who fill it," Mel says. "And nothing's good without them.”

Alena Graedon, The Word Exchange

Lauren Elkin
“Walking is mapping with your feet. It helps you piece a city together, connecting up neighborhoods that might otherwise have remained discrete entities, different planets bound to each other, sustained yet remote. I like seeing how in fact they blend into one another, I like noticing the boundaries between them. Walking helps me feel at home.”
Lauren Elkin, Flâneuse: Women Walk the City in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Venice and London

“Food has become my touchstone for understanding what real love is. The best thing? Food makes it easier to give love, untangled. Since it keeps us alive, the smallest, simplest gesture can seem miraculous: I brought you this soup.”
Emily Nunn, The Comfort Food Diaries: My Quest for the Perfect Dish to Mend a Broken Heart
