“Osmanlı tebaasının genlerinde bulunan Kendi ihtiyacını kendin gör! anlayışı, cumhuriyet ve demokrasiyle birlikte yerini devletten hizmet talep etmeye bırakacağına, ileriki yıllarda halk tarafından daha da benimsenecek; devletten hizmet istemeye korkan, ezkaza görecek olursa minnettarlığından ne yapacağını şaşıran Anadolu halkı, yüz yıl sonra Kendi okulunu kendin yap, kampanyasına şaşılası bir coşkuyla destek verecek, bir Allahın kulu çıkıp Okulumuzu da kendimiz yapacaksak devlet niye vergi alıyor? diye sormayacaktı.”
Ayfer Tunç, Bir Deliler Evinin Yalan Yanlış Anlatılan Kısa Tarihi

“What I mean is that if you really want to understand something, the best way is to try and explain it to someone else. That forces you to sort it out in your own mind. And the more slow and dim-witted your pupil, the more you have to break things down into more and more simple ideas. And that’s really the essence of programming. By the time you’ve sorted out a complicated idea
into little steps that even a stupid machine can deal with, you’ve certainly learned something about it yourself. The teacher usually learns more than the pupil. Isn’t that true?”
Douglas Adams, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency

“Generally speaking, a web of great mystification has been woven around time. Above all, the mystification about the ostensible objectivity of time. Utter nonsense. Time is a completely subjective matter, but every person is not a subject, and that is the problem. Timepieces are perhaps exact, but time is not, time is a matter of personality, or even of affinity.”
Svetislav Basara, The Cyclist Conspiracy

“The Electric Monk was a labour-saving device, like a dishwasher or a video recorder... Electric Monks believed things for you, thus saving you what was becoming an increasingly onerous task, that of believing all the things the world expected you to believe.”
