A Few Good Friends
Can you believe it? Some people think I’m too much! However, I’m beginning to realize maybe they just aren’t enough. I’ve been told all my life (even by some people who love me) that I’m too loud, too opinionated, too bossy, too bold, too aggressive, too… too… too…
If you’re experiencing something similar, let me help you. Those aren’t your people. They don’t understand you, and they never will. In fact, many of them are intimidated by your bright light and free spirit. Do not let these people get in your way.
Instead, find your tribe! I promise they are out there because I found mine. It turns out, if you put me in a room full of romance writers, I fit right in! These loud, bossy, badass babes are everything to me, and it’s crazy how we instantly connect and understand each other. It is nothing short of amazing.
I spent this weekend in their company at the Moonlight and Magnolias Romance Writers Conference in Georgia. Just being around their creative minds and energy had me outlining and plotting my entire next series! New Orleans Billionaire books are in the works! I plan to write the entire series before I release any of them, so be patient with me.
Until then, I just wanted to check in with you and let you know: you are enough.
Now, get out there and find your own Nickie, Michele, Stephanie, Sia, Heather, Renora, Keri, Leslie, Kel, Karen, Nancy, Cyn, Sandy, Ciara, Tracie, Elaine, and Joy!

Pour Attitude Goes Live January 12th!
Madeline Everly is a wild child who loves her fun and freedom. Exel Kinley is the stuff of dirty daydreams who won’t give her the time of day. It’s too bad for Exel because Mads loves a good challenge. Grab your copy of Pour Attitude on Amazon and check it out! It will be on sale for a very limited time.
This book is the third in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. I’ve learned a lot (and I mean a lot) about marketing since the release of my last two novels, so I’m excited about this book launch. For the first time, I’m doing a virtual tour to coincide with its release. Here are the virtual destinations if you want to follow along:
January 11: The Reading Addict
January 12: Buttontapper Press
January 13: Viviana MacKade
January 14: The Avid Reader
January 15: Lisa Haselton’s Reviews and Interviews
January 18: In The Key of Love
January 19: Archaeolibrarian – I Dig Good Books!

Pour Attitude will be featured on over a dozen promotional sites and newsletters, and in addition to that, I am participating in a Booksweeps giveaway for Pour Choices. They send out emails with links to books (lots of best sellers) that are significantly discounted or free.

Pour Choices Audio Book
Now, you can take Pour Choices on the road with you and listen to it on your drive!
The Pour Choices audio book is LIVE! [insert fireworks and screams of joy here], and I am so excited about it!

Click the button above to get your copy. It will be available on Amazon and iTunes in a day or two, but I couldn’t wait to share the link!
Isabelle Ruther and Brandon Utah are professional voice actors who breathed a new life into Dawson and Patrick. I had a dirty little thought that I need to start writing straight up erotica just to hear Brandon Utah’s voice in my ears acting it out. Yes, it’s that good.
Isabelle Ruther was Dawson from the first moment I heard her speak, and her portrayal will make you laugh out loud and cry your eyeballs out. Both of these actors bring the sarcasm, the sexy, and the funny to these roles, and it was a pleasure to work with them. (And they’re recording Pour House as we speak!)
This has been my first foray into the audio book world, and I’m in love. Pour Choices is the first book in the Starkford Series, and I just about have it memorized. Yet, there was something special I didn’t expect that happened when I listened to it. it’s just plain magic. If you have never tried audio books, I highly recommend it!
On another note, around four hundred of you downloaded Pour Boy last month, and I hope you enjoyed it! We welcome you to Starkford with open arms.
Finally, I’ve partnered with Booksweeps to give you a chance to win a bundle of romance books! Just click the pic below.

Keep on reading (and listening), and I’ll talk to you soon.

Keeping the Summer Hot
Pour Choices and Pour House audio books are being recorded as we speak! I have received the first fifteen minutes back from the producer, and I love it. I am so excited to be able to share these with you. If all goes according to plan, Pour Choices should be released next month with Pour House following a month after that.
Both of my books are available through Kindle Unlimited, and I’ve joined with other KU indie authors in Bookfunnel to help keep you in steamy love stories all summer! Click the picture below and check it out!

Even if you can’t make it to the beach (or anywhere else) this year, you can always escape into a good love story. Be safe, stay healthy, and I’ll see you soon.

Down Time
My plan was to write a fun blog about being locked indoors through this apocalypse and how people are burning their way through their “to be read” stacks, raising book sales in the process, but… y’all. My heart hurts for everything going on in the world. If a person’s entire soul wasn’t ripped out as they watched the video of George Floyd begging to live, it’s because they don’t have one. Love. Kindness. Respect. We have to do better. We must do better. Let’s use this “down time” to learn about each other with open eyes and arms. Let’s call out racism when we see it every time we see it. Let’s stand together against hate, and let’s not accept anything but what is right for all human beings. The only way this ends well is love.
With a complete non sequitur, here are some updates from Starkford:
AUDIO BOOKS ARE IN THE WORKS! I’ve contracted with two awesome voice actors to produce both Pour Choices and Pour House. I hope to release in August and September, but I’ll keep you posted as I know more.
Because Pour Choices has stayed mainly in the top 100 of its category for the last few months, I’ve decided to celebrate by doing a flash sale! The ebook will be priced at 99¢ for just a couple of days.
I’m doing my first Bookfunnel promo. This is a place where indie authors can run group promos to support each other (because the indie world is awesome). Everything listed is either free, 99¢, or in Kindle Unlimited for the month of June. I hope you’ll check it out! Here’s the link:

That’s all for now. Please take care of each other.

Getting Busy!
Where to start? I enrolled both Pour Choices and Pour House in Kindle Unlimited at the start of the year, and it has been a wild ride. With this enrollment, I was able to do a Kindle Countdown Deal making Pour Choices 99¢ for a week, and the sales went through the roof. It got up to number seven in its category. Seven has always been my favorite number (I’m a 77 model, myself), so I am taking this as a sign from the universe to keep going! Pour House will have a Kindle Countdown Deal starting March 1st. Maybe we’ll see number 1 then?
In other super exciting news, I’ve released a novella, Pour Boy! It’s set in New Orleans (one of my and Lt Col’s favorite cities), and it continues Dawson and Patrick’s story. I couldn’t let them go. I had to write at least one more continuation of the couple that stole their way into my head and heart and started The Starkford Series. I will not put this novella in any store. It will not be available for sale anywhere–this is my gift to you. If you haven’t gotten it yet, just hop over to my website and tell me where to send it.
Business is booming. On the technical side of things, I’ve switched my mail service from Mailerlite to Mailchimp and added their plugins to my website. I put Pour Boy onto my Book Funnel account, and I interconnected Book Funnel and Mailchimp to work together and deliver the novella to my new and existing subscribers. I feel like I should be walking across a stage in a cap and gown for this. Then, I placed my first “lead generator” ad on Facebook which will help get Pour Boy in the hands of many other readers, setting it up to work automatically with Mailchimp which now works automatically with Book Funnel. My brain is tired, but my coffee is hot. One more cup, and I’ll dive back into Starkford to continue Madeline’s story.
I love a wild child.

All I Want for Christmas is YOU!
I will be signing books in Starkville, Mississippi at the Book Mart & Cafe on Main Street! On December 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., join me and around six other authors from various genres. This event will offer something for everyone, so put on a warm coat (or grab your flip flops since it’s Mississippi weather and we never know) and be a part of the fun!
I posted some pics recently of my trip to Louisville, Mississippi. Let me tell you, those are some wonderful and kind people. I had so much fun doing both the radio show and the author signing. It was inspiring to see a strong community that supports authors and a love of reading!
Are you ready for Pour Attitude? I will be giving advanced copies of chapters to my mailing list, so don’t miss out! Sign up through my website at http://www.pjdevere.com

Top 10 Paranormal Romance
Although I don’t (yet) write in this genre, I have an unabashed love of paranormal romance. There’s a simple reason why. If you are like me, you can guess what happens in a lot of romance books after reading the first chapter. Aggravating, isn’t it? There’s a certain logical path many of them take, and it isn’t hard to guess.
However, when it is a paranormal romance, the rules may have changed or you can find yourself in a place where there are no rules. My brain loves a surprise it didn’t see coming, and this genre is perfect to get my romance fix and keep my brain happy!
I thought about only giving you a top 5, but since my favorite author will take up three spots… I extended it to 10! Here they are:
1. Succubus Blues (The Georgina Kincaid Series) by Richelle Mead
[image error] [image error]
2. Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy Series) by Richelle Mead
[image error] [image error]
3. Bloodlines (Bloodlines Series) by Richelle Mead
[image error] [image error]
4. One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress Series) Jeaniene Frost
[image error] [image error]
5. First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson Series) by Darynda Jones
[image error] [image error]
6. A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries Series) by Elizabeth Hunter
[image error] [image error]
7. Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood Series) by JR Ward
[image error] [image error]
8. Magic Bites (Kate Daniels Series) by Ilona Andrews
[image error] [image error]
9. Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires) by Chloe Neill
[image error] [image error]
10. Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs (Jane Jameson Series) by Molly Harper
[image error] [image error]
All these books are the first ones in their series. They have different levels of sarcasm and heat, but those two vital elements are present in each of them. Some are YA, and some you can hear sizzle when you open the book. Even better, these stories have strong female protagonists and heart-stopping leading men.
Yes, Richelle Mead is taking up three spots, but if you read her you’ll see why. Georgina Kincaid and Vampire Academy are hands down my favorites.
If you haven’t ventured into this genre before, I encourage you to give it a chance. Let me know what you think! Do you know of a great paranormal series that isn’t on the list? I’d love to hear about it.

My Top RomCom Picks
I’m in love with funny. If I snort with laughter when I’m reading a book with a half naked man on the cover, I’m in my happy place.
I recently went back and reread the reviews for my first book, Pour Choices, and one of the best (and most frequent) compliments is that it is hysterical!
I’ve also gotten feedback that some of you, who didn’t read this genre before, went in search for other funny romance books after reading mine but couldn’t find another that held their interest.
Well, I’m here to serve and let my voracious reading habits help you to discover other fabulous, must-read books. I’ve compiled a list of my top 5 romantic comedy ebooks that will have you rolling on the floor with laughter!
1. Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
[image error] [image error]
2. Friend Zoned by Belle Aurora
[image error] [image error]
3. Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid
[image error] [image error]
4. Tangled by Emma Chase
[image error] [image error]
5. Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley
[image error] [image error]
Many of these are the first book in their series, so this should give you enough reading to get through the Thanksgiving holidays! Maybe even through Christmas? Just download one of these gems, shut the door and scream, “Don’t come in here!” whenever someone jiggles the handle. They’ll think you’re busy wrapping their presents.
Let me know what you think! Did I miss one? Do you have a favorite you want to share? I love a good book recommendation, so don’t hold back!
