L. James Rice is the #1 International Best Selling Author of the multi-award-winning Epic Fantasy, Eve of Snows, and the Sundering the Gods Saga.

Having lived in his own world for many years, L. James Rice decided he might as well share that world with folks otherwise trapped in reality, and got serious about writing. He has made enough wine to no longer enjoy wine. He has not eaten enough steak or pizza to no longer enjoy steak or pizza, but is working on it. "Challenges are good," he maintains. He is an old English Lit major who also studied screenwriting at UCLA.

Having managed to graduate high school only rarely turning in homework, he moved on to a university to find it even more forgiving of lax study skills. He celebrated with copious

I hadn't even thought of people in Nigeria reading that end note! Awesome. People who know me will see a lot more humor in Sundering the Gods, I know an old buddy of mine laughs out loud when reading it and he has to explain it to his wife. There are allusions ranging from The Muppets to Monty Python scattered throughout. The Contessa might be a better balance of heavy & dark with adventure, mystery, and humor.

One of the fun things I did with The Touched is to scatter in hints as to who the actor I would want to play him would be, and sadly, said actor died about the time I was writing The Touched's scenes, but it also inspired me to put in those clues. He was more famous as a singer but also did movies. Those hints are in the first chapter where you meet him in Eve of Snows, I won't spoil it if you want to give it a shot.(less)

“When she kissed him, the whites of her eyes had disappeared to darkness, black as a shark’s, and her lips held a power, a seductive warmth fraught with chills of terror.”
L. James Rice

“Herald’s Watch rose several hundred feet above the waves of Purdonis Bay, with a great tower at its pinnacle, but its majesty didn’t keep her eye; hundreds of vessels, ranging from fishing boats to cogs, surrounded the island, masts swaying as they packed tight throughout and around the tiny harbor. People moved to and fro, tiny from this distance, bringing to mind maggots swarming a crumpled corpse, the tower a dagger in the dead island’s back.”
L. James Rice, Eve of Snows

“The Touched took a smooth dancing step to stand before Eliles. “And for you, my little girl with eyes of blue, cousin mine, with eyes more colors than mine own, who’s end I cannot see. Will we see, speak, hear again? Will we dance before or after eternity’s end? For you and you alone a gift with name unearned.” The Touched cupped his hands, and when he opened them a blinding light emanated, forcing Ivin to avert his eyes. When the intensity faded he turned to look, and in the man’s bony palm rested a crescent moon, like a ten-inch blade of a curved knife.”
L. James Rice, Eve of Snows
