2023 In Review

Hello, Fair Ones!We have come to it at last. The end of the year. And I'm going to say that super common thing and remark how it doesn't feel that long since last year's end. With that obligatory acknowledgment out of the way, I now go on to the obligatory review of the year. But all jokes aside, I really do appreciate taking a moment to step back and see what God has done. I can too easily dismiss the year as too fast or too unproductive, and forget to remember what HAS happened.
So, let'...

Top 5 Valentine Couples
So let's talk romance! I'll be honest, romance is not the number one draw in a story for me, and when it is, I like it sweet (spice ruins the flavor). Let's review my favorite couples, shall we?

Believe it or not, this was the hardest section to decide on, not because of overwhelming options, but because since I barely read anymore, I'm not currently excited about many ships. This led me to search for the ones that *really* stuck with me, and it came down to these!
Eugenides + Irene from THE QU...

Princess Mononoke: A Fable

When I was a young girl, I liked looking through the Disney DVD magazine sent in the mail, and there was a section dedicated to Studio Ghibli, which Disney had acquired the rights to sell. And none of the movies there intrigued me more than this one.

First, it was PG-13 for violence and gore which SHOCKED me because at that time I couldn’t imagine an animated movie being violent or intended for adults. Second, I was fascinated that despite having a title about a Princess, the main character a...

An Autumn Short Story!
ASELVIAN AUTUMN
TELLIE
If there was one thing elves practiced above beauty, it was comfort, and fortunately, they excelled at both.
In her first few months in her new home, Tellie had been surprised to learn that Aselvians did not spend their days stiff and regal as portrait paintings. No, elves lived a long time, and as such, they learned how to live well. That meant they took all the time they needed to craft things with both elegance and practicality.
Today, that meant she faced the diffi...

Top Ten Heroines (Visual Edition)
Ah, a much-delayed sequel to my top-ten heroes post...because I never planned on making one, because I couldn't come up with ten top heroines.
"WHAT?!!" you say.
I know, I know. I could have made a list of heroines I enjoyed, found cute, thought were cool...but to me what truly makes a great heroine and a great hero is a person who is an EXAMPLE of somebody I want to be. Not just somebody I relate to or think is cute (though those are great qualities that usually contribute) but somebody who i...

Author Interview with Michelle M Bruhn

Alísa is the daughter of a slayer chief, born into war against the evil of the dragons. Her speech
impediment stole her confidence, and her empathic connection to dragons stole the respect of
her clan. But when her growing psychic connection reveals one dragon’s capacity for good, she
must choose: stay with her family in comfortable but condemning silence, or follow the dragon
claiming to know her true purpose.

Top 10 Best Hugs (cinematic edition)
So recently I just started thinking about the really GREAT hugs that we've seen on screen. Generally, kisses are talked about more, but HUGS are severely underrated. For one thing, they apply to many relationships besides romance. And they are just the most comforting, satisfying finale.
So I shall begin with the hug I just recently witnessed while watching the FF7 remake, and from there I shall list some of my other favorites in no particular order.
Cloud and Tifa from FF7.
I was literally...

Fair Readers, Fair Readers, I have a cover reveal for an exciting new voice in fantasy! This story has...dragons...a Scottish-like heroine who stammers...and a beautiful cover. Behold the debut novel of Michelle M. Bruhn!

To end an unjust war, a slayer's daughter must learn the ways of the dragons and find the confidence to lead despite her speech impediment.
