If you’d rather start small with your scheduling, go with a wall calendar or notepad in your favorite design, or a binder to organize your documents.

THE “Fresh Start February” Challenge: Day 23-28

Day 23: Create Your Daily Drawer

Create a daily drawer or bin that holds all of your everyday items. It will save you time in the morning since everything will be at your fingertips. Even if the contents are random, it makes a difference if everything is categorized.

Suggested products:

Day 24: Streamline Your Spin Cycle

Thinking through your categories and laundry process will help you set up a plan of attack. Obviously, you have detergent, but what about stain removal, dryer sheets, and other cleaners? Do you need space for rags and towels? Should you leave room for folding clothes, or do you do that elsewhere? Next, group your categories and decide what containers work best for each item. We love open front bins and turntables for easy access.

Suggested products:

Day 25: Edit Your Appliances

Appliances are notoriously hard to store. Not just because they are bulky, but also because some come with so many bits and pieces. Instead of letting these items live out in space, group them together in open bins and add a label. And while you’re at it, if you haven’t used an appliance in years, go ahead and donate it!

Suggested products:

Day 26: Clean Out Your Purse

Toss all the trash (receipts, wrappers, etc.) and group the rest into broad categories (wallet items, technology, cosmetics, etc.) Using clear, color-coded, or labeled pouches to contain these items allows you to grab what you need without having to dig within a dark purse. If you change purses often or switch out your items regularly, store pre-made pouch kits for various occasions, such as travel or workday, and switch out when necessary.

Suggested products:

Day 27: Canister Your Favorite Snacks

To avoid running low on your favorite snacks, buy them in bulk and canister them. We also reccomend adding a custom label!

Suggested products:

Day 28: Schedule Your Mini-Edits

CONGRATS…YOU’VE MADE IT TO THE END OF THE CHALLENGE!! How amazing does it feel to have all these small projects under your belt? Now, it’s all about maintaining your new systems. Set aside 10 minutes a month to see if anything needs to be adjusted. The best part is you’ll never have to start from scratch again…what a relief!

If you still need to catch up on projects, follow along below!

THE “Fresh Start February” Challenge: Day 15-22

Day 15: Edit Your Jewelry

Like paper clutter, no one is in the mood for a tangled necklace or a damaged heirloom. To organize jewelry is to protect it. We love using a product line called Stackers. They look like a leather case from the outside, but the inside is a velvet material with compartments to keep things safe. There’s a variety of colors and options to fit any aesthetic and need.

Suggested products:

Day 16: Tackle Your Tupperware

For starters, if something has a missing part, go ahead and toss it. Safe to say it’s gone forever! To avoid that situation in the future, we suggest storing lids separately. It might seem counterintuitive but it saves space being able to nest containers and store the lids filed vertically.

Day 17: Get First-Aid Ready

There’s no better time than now to edit your medicine cabinet. Check every expiration date and take inventory of what you have or need. Group by category and if possible, remove excess packaging for easy access. It also helps to add bin inserts or “baby bins” to subcategorize within a larger category.

Day 18: Edit Your Board Games Just like food storage, it’s extremely common for board game pieces to go missing in action. Carve out some time to look through each box and purge any games with missing pieces. Transfer to a clear storage box if the original cardboard box is damaged.

Day 19: Create a Coffee StationSetting up a morning ritual for caffeine doesn’t just make the day better, it makes the day possible. And setting up a station around this ritual makes it ALL THE MORE FUN.

Suggested products:

Day 20: Create a Guest Kit

When you practically live in hotels as we do, you end up learning a few things about the art of hosting guests from being a guest. Like how much it means to arrive after a long flight to everything we need without having to ask for it. Create a “guest kit” that includes a mix of items that people tend to forget (toothbrush, phone charger) and also some that will make them feel more comfortable (lip balm, eye mask). Don’t forget to add a label so they know it’s there for them.

Day 21: Try a Tote Hanger

Large bulky tote bags can be the bane of our existence. We use them, we need them, but when it comes to storing them? Well, they can be bulky. This is where tote hangers come in! They maximize space, accessibility, and even allow you to create grab-and-go bags for multiple situations.

Day 22: Prep Your Packing List

Let’s talk travel essentials because we all have them. These are the items that would absolutely mess up your entire routine if you forgot to pack them, which no one wants. Schedule time today to create a list you can run through each time you’re preparing for a trip. It’s more helpful than you’d ever realize!

Happy organizing!

THE “Fresh Start February” Challenge: Day 8-14

Well, we officially made it through the first week of mini-projects! Y’all are killing it out there! Keep tagging us in your projects along the way…we love seeing your progress!

And if you’re just now joining us, it’s never too late to get organized. Just click here and we’ll see you at the finish line!

Day 8: Designate a Dropspot

If you enter and exit your home on a regular basis, you need a drop spot. It’s exactly what the name suggests…a spot where you can drop things. Your keys, your bag, your shoes, your mail, your kid’s school paperwork you need to sign. It can be as simple as a tray on an entryway table with some hooks on the wall.

Suggested products:

Day 9: Clean Out Your Camera Roll

The best part about these digital projects is that you can accomplish them from literally anywhere. You don’t even need WiFi for this one! The process for organizing digitally is the same as organizing a physical space. Start by deleting anything you don’t need. For us, that usually means screenshots and the thousands of blurry selfies our kids take when they *borrow* our phones. Then sort the remaining photos in categorized folders on your phone so you can access them easily.

Day 10: Rethink Under a Sink

The space under your sink can be tricky if you have bulky piping, but it doesn’t have to be! Add a turntable or set of canisters in between stackable drawers to create functional storage in this underutilized but valuable space.

Day 11: ROYGBIV Your Books

Feeling bored with your space? Display your books in rainbow order. It’s one of the easiest ways to add a fun pop of color, considering you’re just working with what you already have! For bindings with multiple colors, go with the shade that stands out the most.

Day 12: Declutter Your Documents

If you don’t create a system for paper, small stacks turn into mountains that people tend to ignore…for a very long time. The easiest solution? Separate your papers into three categories: Recycle, To-Do, and File. Categorize and use document boxes or acrylic file boxes for storing your files. For the To-Do papers, trays will keep them easily accessible.

Suggested products:

Day 13: Create a Trunk Kit

Organizing your trunk is as simple as getting a collapsible case and packing it with items you tend to need the most often. Consider what you might need to have available for your kids or pets, and what activities require you to have supplies on hand.

Some possible car contenders include paper towels, hand towels, an extra pair of shoes, travel umbrella, bottles of water, pen/notebook, kids car games, dog leash, extra phone charger, sunscreen, snacks that won’t melt, hairbrush, jacket…YOU KNOW, JUST TO NAME A FEW.

Suggested products:

Day 14: Celebrate Your Win

How amazing does it feel to have all these mini-projects under your belt? CONSIDER THIS YOUR GOLD STAR DAY. Carve out time for yourself to celebrate your hard work. Champagne, candy, binge-watching an entire season of a show…the choice is yours!

Stay tuned for next week’s round of mini-projects. Happy organizing!

THE “Fresh Start February” Challenge: Day 1-7

Was getting organized one of your New Year’s resolutions, yet we’re already a month in and you’ve barely organized a thing?

THAT IS TOTALLY FINE. Let’s be honest: January always has a bit of December attached to it. If we’re being realistic here, February is the best time to turn over a new leaf…but still very, very slowly.

The fact is that if you are going to organize your home, you’ve got to start small. We’re talking about projects that take you no more than 15 minutes but will make a huge difference in your daily life.

This month, we’ll be offering mini projects for you to tackle each week, every day. Don’t feel obligated to follow the exact order…there are no rules here! Just do what works for you and finish off each project with a gold star, whether that’s a glass of champagne, your favorite candy, or a binge-watch session of your favorite show.

Let’s get started…

Day 1: Check Expiration Dates

No need to take everything out. Just grab a trash bag and start checking dates. Keep track of the expired items that should be replaced or never bought again. If you have bulk items in canisters, make sure to write the expiration date on the back, either with a label maker or a washable chalk marker, because no one likes a stale pasta night.

Suggested products:

Day 2: Tackle a Drawer

Not two. Just one. We always say, “If you can manage a drawer, you can do so much more.” And it’s so true! Drawers are a manageable project that will give you a bite-sized win without feeling overwhelmed.

Use individual inserts in various sizes to contain your categories, testing multiple configurations to come up with the smartest solution for the space.

Suggested products:

Day 3: Master the File Fold

File folding is so calming—it’s basically a cheap form of therapy. This technique turns stacks of clothing or linens upright so you can quickly identify what you have, and helps maximize drawer space when you really need it.

Step 1: Lay the shirt flat in front of you, with the front of the shirt facing down.

Step 2: Fold in the right sleeve

Step 3: Fold both sleeves to the middle of the shirt. Fold the sides of the shirt slightly, it should never go past where the hem (aka the neckline stitching) begins on either side

Step 4: Fold the shirt in half from the bottom hem

You’re done! The trick to knowing whether you folded it correctly is if the shirt stands up by itself with the folded side up. If your shirts need a little extra support, feel free to add some expandable dividers into your drawer.

Suggested products:

Day 4: Edit Your Inbox

Start by purging anything you no longer need and unsubscribing to any newsletter or promotional content that is clogging up your inbox. Then set up folders for your general categories (Work, Family, Travel, Etc.) and use filters so emails go straight to the inbox they belong in. From there, you can also prioritize these emails into categories that signal action such as Reply or Waiting For Reply so you don’t miss anything.

Day 5: Try a Turntable

If there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s that we *love* a turntable. They work practically anywhere in the home and can be the perfect solution for even the trickiest of spaces! Think about something that is giving you trouble. Maybe it’s the fact that you can never access the cooking oils properly in your pantry. Maybe it’s that awkward corner in your bathroom cabinet where things get lost in the mix. Try a turntable and see what happens!

Suggested products:

Day 6: Tame Your Cords

Every device seems to come with extra cables, adapters, and accessories. Chances are, you probably don’t need all of them, BUT IF YOU DO…wrap a cord tie around each individual cord, add a label to identify what they go, and store them in a designated drawer or bin.

Suggested products:

Day 7: Swap Your Hangers

Wire and plastic hangers are the worst. Sorry if that offends anybody, but it’s true. If you’re looking for the easiest way to update your closet and maximize hanging room, invest in matching velvet or wooden hangers.

Suggested products:

Stay tuned for next week’s projects! Happy organizing!
