To me, writer's block means I am standing in service, waiting till the right time to leap back into writing with an idea so hot that I can't stop until I've got the whole thing down, so I never feel guilty or pressured to write when I am blocked.
That said, I keep my pen primed by writing short fiction and blog posts. I might take a short fiction piece and expand it into a long piece, which is what I did with A Peculiar Curiosity.
Also, I will read a lot during my "blocked" phases. I'll also observe more and daydream more. I think this dormant period is good for us, and very valuable. Why do we feel a pressure to fill our hours and days with writing when we may not have anything interesting to say or explore? Better to spend that time in thinking, in experiencing, and in living and come back to the page when we have something interesting going on.
But that said, I do have some specific tips for any writer stuck in writer's block. http://keystrokesandcoffee.com/five-t...(less)

TWENTY-TWENTY: NOT SUCH A BAD YEAR AFTER ALL

The year 2020 will go down in history as a dumpster fire of epic proportions. A pandemic seized the world; the US had mass riots, the tensions of which rippled out to impact the rest of the globe; and the US had an election year to rival the most memorable in recent history. But as I sit here on Dec 31st thinking about this past year, the many Read more of this blog post »

Chilling read. I feel so sorry for Judith. Through no fault of her own, she had her whole life turned upside down. It's amazing that Gary flew under her radar totally. How he lived a double life so expertly. I've read a book on him, but I had no idea ...more

Vladimir Nabokov
“Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita. Did she have a precursor? She did, indeed she did. In point of fact, there might have been no Lolita at all had I not loved, one summer, an initial girl-child. In a princedom by the sea. Oh when? About as many years before Lolita was born as my age was that summer. You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns.”
Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

Douglas Adams
“ABOYNE (vb.)
To beat an expert at a game of skill by playing so appallingly that none of his clever tactics or strategies are of any use to him.”
Douglas Adams, The Deeper Meaning of Liff: A Dictionary of Things There Aren't Any Words for Yet--But There Ought to Be

Douglas Adams
“Albacete (AL-ba-seet) n. A single surprisingly long hair growing in the middle of nowhere.”
Douglas Adams, The Deeper Meaning of Liff

Stephen King
“When his life was ruined, his family killed, his farm destroyed, Job knelt down on the ground and yelled up to the heavens, "Why god? Why me?" and the thundering voice of God answered, There's just something about you that pisses me off.”
Stephen King, Storm of the Century
