But first, I need to write!
Hola todos,
Here is the first of many blog posts for my website. I really intend for this blog to be more intimate than book reviews and reselling thoughts. I may randomly decide to post my favorite recipe, my thoughts on a current event going on, or vent about trying to manage this crazy thing called life. If you're into random content like that, stick around.
However, the main goal of this site has always been to have a structured way for people to purchase Mystery Book Boxes. After four long months, my "KateyReads Mystery Book Boxes" project is finally coming to fruition and I am genuinely excited to rehome books using this new approach.
This project is more than simply monetizing "duds" because I am more than just a reseller. I am a book lover, an antiquarian enthusiast, and a writer. KateyReads Mystery Book Boxes will always be about keeping books out of landfills. Period (in my best Megan Thee Stallion voice).
So, thank you so much for being here
! Whether you are using one of my affiliate links, following me on social media, reading blog posts or purchasing a mystery box, your support is beyond appreciated. Here's to the journey!
xo

Ungated for Cheap by Nesha Howell
Are you an Amazon seller looking to branch out to different categories that you currently are restricted in? If yes, keep reading because this eBook is for you.

I first “met” Nesha through our mentor Matt Adolph. She had been working with Matt to grow her Amazon account beyond just books. Through that journey, Nesha was able to figure out a way to get “ungated” in certain categories for cheap. Doing this allowed her to grow her business to a six figure status. I know the term “six figure seller” is thrown around a lot online as a reason to trust an “Amazon guru” and if you buy their “knowledge” for 3 easy payments of $499 you’ll be just like them. Don’t worry, this isn’t a corny sales ad.
Now, being an Amazon seller myself and trying to transition to more diversified inventory, I decided to purchase Nesha’s book and give it a shot. Her formula described in this eBook is genius! Using her method, I was able to purchase items super cheap and get ungated using her stacking method in over 4 categories like: grocery, health and beauty, and tide/clorox brands. In short, her method works.
Nesha also provides great customer service to those who purchase her book by answering direct messages on Instagram and helping you before placing your order if needed. I was super impressed by her genuine desire to see me succeed!
Here’s my disclaimer though, this book won’t work for you if you don’t have the capital to purchase products, the motivation to take action and the patience to possibly have to submit documentation a couple times to Amazon. Amazon gave me a hard time with my grocery application, but I stuck with it and finally got approved. If you need help on getting capital, go to my previous book review of my mentor’s eBook “Did Someone Say Free Books?” and figure out how to get free inventory to start building your Amazon (or eBay) book business.
Nesha’s book is a 5 out of 5 stars for me! If you’d like to buy a copy using my affiliate link you can buy it here. Make sure to also give Nesha a follow on Instagram.
Happy reading, reselling and writing!

Did Someone Say Free Books? by Matt Adolph

I first started selling books consistently on Amazon and eBay in March of 2019. I wanted to grow my book selling business, but I had zero capital to make it happen. I felt a little defeated and like I was out of options. I had a friend moving to Utah who was kind enough to give me four plastic totes full of books. This experience prompted me to try to figure out a way to get more free inventory.
A few months later, Romer the Roamer dropped a YouTube video discussing getting books for free. In the video, Romer was interviewing Matt Adolph and asking him how he obtains free books, ways to network with people, and ways to ask for the free books. I loved what Matt had to say and immediately realized he had a lot of knowledge about the book game.
I found Matt on Instagram and annoyed the crap out of him with questions. Everything he posted about, I tried to mimic. Every suggestion he gave to me, I did it. Every book he recommended to read and learn from, I read. Over time, he became my mentor and role model for my reselling game. I even nicknamed him Professor and Mr. Free99!
This eBook is years in the making for Matt. I’m genuinely excited he finally released it. In this book he tells you about his journey with books from A to Z. He teaches you how to source for free books, how to establish yourself as a legitimate business when networking with others, ways to brand yourself, how to negotiate with others and other resources and tools. This book is the perfect small investment in yourself and your business. With a price of $15.99, it’s impossible not to be able to get your money back from your first book sale.
Please remember when it comes to training courses, books, or paid mentorships none of it works if you don’t TAKE ACTION. These tools are meant to teach you and show you how to do things the right way and avoid the mistakes. They will not do the work for you. If you love the grind behind reselling, invest in yourself and use eBooks like Matt’s to grow and gain more knowledge.
I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. If you’re interested in purchasing this eBook to jumpstart your book reselling business, or to get started on Amazon with a product that is cheap/free and has no barrier of entry, check out my affiliate link here.
Make sure to follow Matt on Instagram, YouTube and check out his land page.

Six Weeks by Fred Mustard Stewart
Oh, where to begin. For context, I love Fred Mustard Stewart. I started my journey with him back in 2016 when a book store near me was closing. The book store owner recommended “The Mephisto Waltz” to me. I finished it in a day and a half. Thinking most of his stories were similar to this style and genre, I went to eBay and purchased everything he ever wrote. As the books gradually were delivered, I learned he’s most known for his historical fiction. That bummed me out, but because I liked his writing style so much, I decided to give “Ellis Island” a try as my next read. I never knew I liked historical fiction until I read that! Wow was it good. I was officially a Fred Mustard Stewart groupie.
Now, fast forward to last month when I decided to read one of his shorter books, “Six Weeks”. Based on the synopsis I was aware the book revolved around a politician who meets a woman and becomes emotionally attached to her dying child who has six weeks to live. I expected romance naturally as well to sprinkle into the story.
The bummer about this book is the synopsis is literally the story. Fred’s writing style is very fast paced, which is on the reasons I love him as a writer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work when he writes romance. I literally felt zero connection to any character. The way he portrayed the daughter was a bit unrealistic, especially for that time period I think.
Fred’s strengths in this book were his ability to throw in little surprises and sporadic comedy throughout the book. His weaknesses were definitely the lack of character building (I wasn’t rooting for anyone in the love triangle) and the awkward dialogue when conflict arose.
My rating for this book is 3 out of 5 stars. If you want to check out Fred Mustard Stewart, I definitely recommend checking out “The Mephisto Waltz” or “Ellis Island” first.
