Creating a Fictional Town/Part 1 -- Setting

What's your favorite fictional town in a book/book series?

My fictional town, Faithful Falls in Stay With Me, Julia is near and dear to my heart. Northern Idaho is my heaven on earth. Four seasons, picturesque mountains, pine trees, and lakes. Charming little towns and friendly locals that warm my heart. One day, I hope to move back!!

As the story unfolded, the resort in Dirty Dancing, inspired me a bit when I created Brook Trout Resort, one of the main settings in the book. Not so much the dancing part, although there is a scene or two with some dancing *wink-wink,* it was the overall feel this well-beloved romance movie gave me every time I watched it (I stopped counting after my 20th time).

When I think of Brook Trout Resort it gives me the warm, gooey feelings Kellerman’s Hotel gave me in the 80s cult classic. I see ‘Baby’ sitting in a corner, Patrick Swayze walking in looking sexy and determined, and I hear him say, “Nobody puts Baby in a corner,” and I swoon…

I’ll tell you now; there will NOT be a big dance finale in Stay With Me, Julia. Luke, my hero, and resident lumberjack would rather carry Julia straight to bed than lift her above his head in front of the town at the end of the book.

And in 30 days, you’ll get to read how the story ends. Add Stay With Me, Julia to your TBR list today!

Announcing: Stay With Me, Julia!

I can't begin to express how excited I am about this book! It's the first of MANY in the Faithful Falls series and will be available for your reading pleasure two months from today (2/10/19)!

Stay With Me, Julia (Faithful Falls Book 1) by Elle Linder

This series will have it all! Crazy, loveable characters and some not so loveable. You can expect realistic drama in the small tourist town where the locals run the show, and some are a bit eccentric. The stories are heartwarming, but I'll warn you, some scenes might make you blush!

Stay With Me, Julia is available for pre-order on Amazon. Also, in the coming days, I'll announce how you get a free copy of a short story I've written about Luke Hamill, the male main character. He's on the cover. Isn't he pretty?

Prevailing Love is available Oct 28th!

I'm happy to announce, Prevailing Love , book two in the Love Transcends series will be available Oct 28th!

Naturally, I love all my stories, but there is something sweet and enduring about Faith and Cole, they give me all the feels.

In this story, childhood abuse can affect the future when ignored or when lies are believed instead of seeing the truth. Cole only wants to protect Faith, but in fact, he is hurting himself and her.

Cole and Faith can't deny their love for each other but fighting the past isn't easy. Fear is a strong driving force in this story, and when confronted, only then can it be conquered. It will take forgiveness to pave the way for them to have a future together and they will learn their love is stronger than they realize.

Add Prevailing Love to your reading list today!

Redemptive Love is available. What's next?

It's hard to believe my second book is published! Currently, it's available on eBook only. Once I complete all five stories, I'll release a paperback of all five novellas!

The next book in the line up is, Prevailing Love. A sweet and steamy story about the sacrifice we make for those we love and the obstacles life puts before us.

Prevailing Love deals with the mental scars of physical abuse during childhood. Though healing comes, fear may still reside inside a person, such as Cole. That fear can get in the way of a full life—and love. Cole's fears may steer his course but will Faith's love be the anchor he needs? Will, her love for him, eliminate his demons and overcome his fears? What will it take for Cole to believe he isn't a monster like his father?

You can get the answers when you read Prevailing Love, available October 28th!

Redemptive Love, a story about double-standards.

As I’m gearing up for the release of Redemptive Love on Sunday, Oct 7th, I wanted to share a little bit about the double-standards that come between Kate Valencia and Joseph Guerrero.

They were high school sweethearts—best friends since middle school—but that relationship slowly developed into love. Since they were both from the same religious and Latin culture, they believed they were a perfect match.

But one night changed that for them and ended their relationship.

Flash forward ten years: Kate and Joseph’s paths cross and old feelings surface after being deeply buried for years. They both had held onto their feelings with a death grip. For Kate, it was the anger and pain of Joseph’s betrayal. For him, it was the regret of his stupid teenage mistake that cost him the love of his life. Now, what were they to do?

Well, rekindle their love, but as mature adults!

And so they did. As they rediscovered each other, Kate reveals to Joseph that she had slept with more than one man.

Some might think, “Eh, one guy or a few guys, no biggie.” But to Joseph, he still thought of her as his pure, unblemished Katie. And he didn’t take it so well.

The double-standard hit Kate hard. Why was it okay for Joseph to be with an unlimited number of women but it was blasphemy that she had been with several?

It came down to their upbringing—their cultural beliefs. But let’s be honest: double-standards are in every culture and every community. It justs presents itself differently.

In my Catholic-Hispanic family, I was raised to stay a virgin. Anything less was frowned upon. While on the flipside, my brothers could have as many conquests as they wanted because “they had needs” or “men are different.”

Pretty effed up, right?

Redemptive Love is a story based on cultural beliefs. But let me say, not every Latino has had the same experience as I did. Regardless, double-standards are in every culture. We hear about it constantly on social media and in the news. In my large family, these beliefs have not faded much in the last one-hundred years.

I believe change can happen with awareness. One by one, we can make a difference in how we raise our sons and daughters. And this starts with unconditional love and acceptance. Then, forgiveness. And in the case of Kate and Joseph, healing must occur for their love to be redeemed.

Add Redemptive Love to your TBR list today to find out how Kate and Joseph get a second-chance at love.
