Jonathan was brought up around the world as his army officer father was posted every three years to somewhere new. His wanderlust continued during his 20s and 30s when he lived and worked in continental Europe, the Middle East and Australia. His first novel, My Persian Girl, draws heavily on his personal experience of living through the Iranian Islamic revolution. His second book, This Land Is Ours, although a historical novel, draws on unpublished family papers to tell the true story of a branch of the MacKay family who leave Scotland in 1806 for Canada but end up living in one of Australia's grandest mansions. ...more
