"What a book. A MOURNING SONG is a follow up to the author's (outstanding) debut A VIOLENT GOSPEL.
This book features the second outing of the Dooley brothers as they run through the mountains of North Georgia battling a gang of white supremacists. A MO" Read more of this review » |

Terrific A terrific read. Even better than the first in the series including the story, character work, and even the writing itself. Highly recommended for rural noir, grit lit fans. I'm definitely looking forward to more work from the Westmoreland. ...more |

"Bad ideas will populate this world until the end of time and here in A Violent Gospel by Mark Westmoreland the Dooley brothers do nothing to sway of us this fact. A tight, fast read that had me laughing in spots, especially when a certain Peanut ente"

"A VIOLENT GOSPEL is Grit-Lit Concentrate, all plot and pace and pungent regionalisms, and not a lot else. It's fun as far as it goes, but I wish it had gone a lot farther; part of what's great about Grit Lit is is leisurely unpacking of how the peopl"

Very good country crime fiction A fast paced, violent rural noir that ends with a hiss and a shot to the head. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Mark Westmoreland. |

| This was one of the best crime comics I’ve ever read. A unique concept you don’t ever really see with Native Americans as the main cast, compelling characters, and a wild and exciting plot that’s hard to put down. Highly recommend the series. | |

“The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That's the only lasting thing you can create.”
