Dana Buckmir published her first book in the sixth grade. The story was written on index cards stapled to the pages and bound together by yarn. That experience was the first time she envisioned herself as one day becoming a writer.

Her first book, a memoir – Plenty of Laughs: One Woman’s Journey Navigating the Online Dating Waters is a comical account of her personal experience with dating in the age of technology. The compelling story of finding love online focuses on the importance of maintaining a sense of humor and never losing hope.

A lot of the guys I met out were older than me (like grandpa status) and I have a rule to never date anyone I work with, so online dating seemed like the best option. My friend, Missy gave me that extra push I needed to sign up and try it out. The book idea çame about because many of my experiences were so over-the-top disastrous, I thought, ‘I have to share this with the world.’ When I started researching the market I was surprised to find that there really weren’t any books written on the subject. I asked around and someone said, “If you’re looking for a book and can’t find it, then you should write it.” Online dating is so popular now that so many people can relate to the topics I explore in the book and hopefully gain comfort in the fact that they’re not alone. I have to tell you, it’s been a hysterical ride. I couldn’t have made this up if I tried.(less)

"This memoir is a must read from Dana Buckmir, the story is griping and raw and tells an all too familiar story of abuse. Dana brings to light the emotions of a survivor throughout the book while she went through gaslighting, the warnings from others," Read more of this review »
Everything Will Be Okay by Dana Buckmir
"Dana Buckmir achingly captures the confusion, pain, grief, and will to change that can characterize leaving a toxic partnership. It's an uncomfortable read, so honest and vulnerable. I've never met the author in person, but she is the adult child of " Read more of this review »

William Saroyan
“The most solid advice for a writer is this, I think: Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.”
