Hi Nari,
Thank you for your question! I have considered writing a sequel, but I think I might work on another side project to give me some distance before I come back to this story. I do appreciate knowing that there's interest though!(less)

Whenever I'm feeling stuck, I get away from my desk and my computer and go off with a notebook somewhere and allow myself to just scribble on the page. There is just something about connecting pen to paper that shifts my mind into a different space. Writing on a screen, you have to go line by line, but paper let's you move around the page, make diagrams, and work in the margins. (less)

The Myth of a Shared Life

I had the moment my future husband would see me in my wedding dress all planned out. Although it wasn’t necessarily a Middle Eastern tradition, he’d be waiting for me at the end of an aisle. I’d walk in with my father, and upon seeing me in all my bridal glory, he had had one of the following options: a) cry with manly restraint b) open his mouth wide with surprise before breaking into a smile of Read more of this blog post »

Those words did not slow time or cause music to erupt from the walls. They did not make fireworks burst from the sky or conjure up a crowd hooting congratulatory cheer.
I didn't want to accept that such life-changing words could feel so ordinary, that this moment I'd been waiting for my entire life could already be over with such little ceremony.
“Yes,” I said and then added, “But this doesn't count, okay? You still have to ask me for real.”

“Maybe Mama was right, and you could learn to love someone. Maybe knowing a guy loved you was enough to flip the switch in your heart that made you love him back.”
