Seven Years of Movement Practice, Before & After

I just released a YouTube video documenting my last seven years of movement practice.

When I started movement, I couldn’t handstand, rest in squat, or balance on a rail. I often had back pain I didn’t know how to resolve. Movement allowed me to understand my body, observe myself, and develop in many directions at once.

It’s funny and inspiring to look back on where I began, just as I hope it’s funny to look back at my current videos seven years from now.

Below are the video’s...

The Truth Seeker and the Dream Warrior

The truth seeker is a sticky and enticing identity, an archetype Ive identified with for many years now.

For the truth seeker, there is no depth that will satisfy the hunger in the pit of the stomach or quench the thirst gnawing at the back of the throat. There is always more to know, a greater and deeper understanding of reality to be explored. For moments, something can feel or seem as if its understood. A deep peace. A satisfaction in being. But that too eventually slips away when co...

The Truth Seeker and the Warrior

The truth seeker is a sticky and enticing identity, an archetype Ive identified with for many years now. By better understanding its motives, we can learn its strengths, limitations, and what lies beyond.

For the truth seeker, there is no depth that will satisfy the hunger or quench the thirst gnawing at the back of the throat. There is always more to know about whats happening, a greater and deeper understanding of reality to be explored. For moments, something can feel or seem as if i...

Fiction Book Update: Draft Two Completed

It’s been two and a half years since I started my fiction book and the second draft is finally complete!

The second draft was all about fixing the story. Thanks to my editor’s feedback, the book finally feels whole. A book with a cohesive, sensical, and fantastical narrative. There’s still a long way to go, but my sweet girlfriend gave me a celebratory offering for achieving this milestone.

Feeling like I graduated forth grade.A close-up of the celebratory cake cartonWhat It’s Take...

I’m Writing a Fiction Book… The Legend of Taro

I’ve been working on my fiction book again!

The Legend of Taro is an epic fantasy adventure novel inspired by stories like The Alchemist, Spirited Away, and Big Fish but involving magic and anime-style sword fights against demons settled against a background of Japanese-folklore.

My working premise is currently:

In a world losing the ability to dream, a fisherman named Taro must follow his own to defeat a dark presence spreading across the land.

I wrote the first draft as a stream-...

Going Beyond Thinking: Awareness & the Observer

Ive tried on occasion to point to insights about the observer and awareness through blogging, books, and instagram posts. I find these ideas particularly powerful and transformative, so I wanted to share two YouTube videos I stumbled across which do a particularly great job at explaining the stages of thinking and what lies beyond thought.

For those unfamiliar with the stages of thinking and meta-cognition, these kinds of models can be attributed as far back as Plato but more recently to ...

The Story of My Upcoming Fiction Book…

Ive spent the last year writing a book. But instead of writing another book about my life, I wanted to write a fiction book from the subconscious mind. Basically, writing with no plan. Trying something Ive never done before.

Its a much different process compared to my non-fiction books. There, I had a known beginning and end real-life experiences to act as landmarks guiding me in the darkness. Now, I have none of that. I just keep writing, hoping things might connect in the end...

Who Created Whom? A Poem

I wonder to myself at night

On a night I should be fast asleep:

Could it be that man made God

Or was it Him who has made me?

The Bible says

We were made in Gods image.

The Ultimate Creator:

All seeing, all knowing, all powerful

open eye atop the capstone

Gazing down

With Words to shape the world

palms to hold the oceans

And breath to breathe

the gift of life.

Who are we to think ourselves like Him?

A mere fragment of such Great potential...
