Aaron's first novel, The Starlight Inn, is a personal coming of age story about questioning faith. The protagonist shares the same form of OCD Aaron battled as a teenager, centered on religious obsessions. His second book, Jane and the Boy Wonder, is a historical novel centered around the origins of artificial intelligence, little known prodigies of the 20th century, and stoic principles for life.

Aaron's humor books, Good Chemistry, and What We Once Called Out in Passing Clouds, are explorations of absurdist comedy in the tradition of SNL writer Jack Handey's "Deep Thoughts."

Aaron lives in Oregon with his wife and dog, Rags. For more please visit www.aarondonley.com.

“When writing clown erotica, don’t, “honk noses,” too much. It’s a bit heavy handed.”

“The word 'palindrome' spelled backwards is 'emordnilap,' which, when looked up in the dictionary reads: "See, this is why girls don't like you.”

“Isn't it amazing that by merely throwing feces at a Queen you can make a statement of some kind.
That's called America baby.”

“I think that fat friends are more loyal than skinny friends, because when you're surrounded by fat friends there's a higher probability one of them will take a bullet for you.”

“I’d like to write a real love song about real love. The kind of love that says, “Hey, why don’t you shut up for a change?” But in like, a really catchy jingle. I’m not doing it justice here.”

“I’ll never forget working with Grandpa out in the garage. He’d ask me to hand him a screwdriver or a wrench and I would say, “Oh, you must mean Boopie and Peewee.” -To which Grandpa would grunt and say, “Whatever boy, just give me the screwdriver.” It was a lot of fun. Then, when his army buddies would come over, I’d tell them all about Peewee and his mad love affair with innocent Boopie, but how Grandpa desired fair Boopie’s love far above Peewee’s “expectations.” Grandpa never liked me much.”

“I think random acts of kindness are really not so random. I mean, I don’t just help old ladies across the street if they look like they’re doing fine. There’s a reason and a purpose behind everything, you know? And even if they don’t look like they’re doing fine, you’d be surprised at how they make it eventually if you just leave them alone. We could also bet whether they make it or not of course, it you'd quit being such a square.”
