RD Pires has found there's always a story to tell, and so he spends his time writing them down. A writing project is always on his mind, even when there aren't enough hours in a day to work on them.

Author of many genres, he has a special place in his heart for queer fiction. His latest works have been part of The Tides That Reign series with book 1, Design of Darkness out last summer, and book 2, Sparrows Sing of Dying just released!

He lives in California with his husband and their daughter.

I read "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens, which was gorgeously written; I read "Brothers Across Time" by Brad Boney, which was a wild ride of twists and turns; and right now I'm reading "The Orphan Train" by Pam Jenoff which is very tense!(less)

Spring Book Festivals Galore!

Heyo!

Spring 2026 is well underway, which means book fairs are popping up all over the place like daisies! This season I will be participating in two book fairs in the Northern California region: the Sacramento Book Festival and the Bay Area Book Fest.

This is the first year I’ve ever participated in any such festivals, so I’ve been having a fun time gathering advice about what to bring and what to

"An epic fantasy following multiple characters, all on their own paths but united by one goal, overthrow a tyrant and seek justice for the lives lost and the towns burned to the ground. The Asian inspired world? Absolutely stunning.

“Sometimes, we carry our troubles so plainly that everyone can see them.”
R.D. Pires, A Vast, Untethered Ocean

“Now there was a sense of liberation, a feeling of finality. It's in the spinning of the wheels beneath him, the miles of road he has traveled, and the miles of road he has yet to travel. Why had leaving ever seemed so difficult?”

“Grief can be a kind of exhaustion, after all.”
Noah Medlock, A Botanical Daughter

“Simon, what do you understand to be the nature of a soul?" he said suddenly.

Simon was staring darkly into the endless distance. He didn't refocus his gaze to reply.

"That part of us which cannot be destroyed.”
Noah Medlock, A Botanical Daughter

“He had tried sculpting in other materials - in clay, marble, wood, and bronze - but corpses were the only medium that really sang under his fingers.”
