Updating my cover

I'm updating my cover for "Blood Alley." While I was pretty happy with the version I first published, I kept seeing things I wanted to change.

To begin with, the title was hard to read in a thumbnail. This is because of the darkness of the font, and the gradient at the bottom.

Also, I'm re-branding my name in terms of position, size, and font. I had a cover designer for "Blood Alley," but I did my own cover for my upcoming thriller, "Red Wedding." I want my thrillers to have a similar look, especially the author name, so that meant going back and tweaking the cover for "Blood Alley."

Also, I originally had my series title on my cover: "The Highwayman, Book 1." I've decided to remove it. I don't want to give the impression that this is an episode in a serial. "Blood Alley" is a standalone thriller with sequel potential. I don't want people to wait for book 2 before buying book 1. So the series name is gone.

In its place I've added a tag line, which I had already used in my product description. It adds some more text to the cover image, and gives some variety to the text alignment (it's not center-aligned, like the rest of the text).

So here's the new cover I came up with:

What do you think?
