She, however, did not believe so. I decided to expand the story once I'd finished it. The plot went through some radical changes. The private investigator, Radha Bose, got an assistant, Aditya Gokhale. I introduced elements of mental health issues. The whole thing just grew and grew, until my first book, "Birth of a Duo", was born. (less)

5 Lessons I Learnt From Self-Publishing Both My Novels

I'm an idiot. A complete jackass. Let's just get that out of the way first. I thought that simply writing a book would be enough. Marketing? What's that? I thought that people would think - "Look at him! He published a novel at only 19 years of age! Let's all read it and love it and make him happy!"

Boy, was I wrong.

Since I don't want anyone else to repeat my mistakes, here are the top five less

Cold People by Tom Rob Smith
Rate this book

Normally I do not read books of this genre, but if Tom Rob Smith wrote a cookbook I would read it, so here we are. This preamble is to emphasize the fact I went into this novel not knowing what to expect, but with a vague sense that I would not like ...more

Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie
Rate this book

Not bad, but not memorable either. Poirot remains a delightful protagonist (and the narrator an irredeemable irk), but while a couple stories in this collection were especially ingenious, I found the book lacking the undefinable IT the previous two b ...more

The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie

Ingenious plot. Multiple twists, most of them unforeseen. The more Agatha Christie I read, the more I am convinced she remains among the most dazzling geniuses to ever have lived. The prose was an improvement over her debut work as well, as was the s ...more

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

A brilliant, atmospheric, ingenious whodunnit. Moreover, a horror book.

Reading this late at night, imagining myself on the island, all means of escape cut off, watching as my fellow inmates get picked off one by one, jumping at every creak and shadow

The Secret Life of John le Carre by Adam Sisman

Well. Now I will have to separate John le Carre from David Cornwell. The former remains one of my favorite writers ever, while the latter was a reprehensible, sad little man who left behind a legacy of lies and unforgivable infidelities.

To me, adulte

Officially the longest time I have ever taken to read a book. Two months and four days.

But that has nothing to do with the book itself; things kept coming up, and I had to keep it aside for long stretches. The book itself is brilliant, actually. One

I did not get this book. It started off slow, continued slowly, and while it picked up the pace toward the end, I had already lost interest by then. The pacing would not have been a problem if the story had been interesting, but it was not. It was a ...more

It had sadly been a while since I had read a book that made me want to put real life on hold to keep coming back to find out what happened in the end, and so I am so thankful I discovered Animal Farm, because this was an incredible read.

An interesting read, one that ended with a quite unexpected - and that does not necessarily mean good - twist, one that I doubt would fly today.

Regardless, it was a good story - apart from the final reveal - and well-told, interesting, intriguing, co
