Do Something Different

If you’ve ever been on an old country dirt road, you know that through time the ruts just get deeper and deeper and more pronounced.

I can still see the rutted red dirt roads where I grew up. The road was much lower than the sides where tall, wild grass grew. Often there was also a strip down the very center that was grass. Because once the ruts were cut in, the only path for the tires was on those ruts.

Do Something Different

Our lives can easily become like those old dirt roads. We can get in a habit of doing somet...

Check Engine Light - is yours on?

For many of you, it may seem that my last blog post Religion - A Dead Man Walking distilled Christianity down too far. I did that in order to make a point. You should know by now that I love to push the antithesis to shock you into thinking.

BUT, I believe every word I posted. I believe we were meant to be a unified body with one goal: to be the body with Christ as the head, and to spread God’s love throughout the world. Therefore, drawing (not pushing, prodding, coercing, or manipulating) all m...

Religion - A Dead Man Walking

Sometimes I say things that shock people. Saying that religion is still, after thousands of years, standing in the way of God fully doing what he wants to do on this earth may be shocking to many people.

But I am completely honest in making that statement, and it is our fault.

We Alone Are To Blame

Religion is divisive. It puts boundaries around opinions, thoughts, and ideas, of what a group of people determine is right and it excludes everyone else that does not believe exactly that way. Of co...

The Fear of Change

Change isn't the hardest thing I have ever encountered. It is and always has been, the fear of change.

I didn't realize that for a long time. I thought it was the act of moving out of the familiar place that I was in that was causing me fear. Not wanting to leave a place, or take a new job, or meet someone new.

What About The What-ifs?

The 'What Ifs' would plague me. What if I do THIS and THAT happens? You know what I am talking about. We have all been there.

The Fear of Change

Fear is paralyzing. You may not fee...

The World and The Earth - Not the Same

It is common to hear the words earth, and world interchanged. But I believe a closer look at the meaning and proper contextual use is warranted.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2) The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

In these verses, the word earth in Hebrew is erets, which means earth and land. It is a physical thing that can be touched and felt.

Let’...

Deception Can Keep You Stuck

Deception

Deception, by its very nature, operates undetected until it has done so much damage that it is difficult to break free from. By the time deception is uncovered, it has changed a life to become so dependent on the lie that the spirit of pride will hold the person solidly bound to the deception.

It creeps in like a tiny water leak in a home. A small bit of water constantly dripping or pooling can cause catastrophic damage that is not noticeable until the damage is done and massive repai...

Honest Motivation

Why Are You Writing Those Blogs?

A friend asked me earlier this week why I was writing the blogs I’ve been writing. It seemed like an odd question to me. Wasn’t the ‘why’ obvious to this friend of mine?

We proceeded to have a discussion regarding my ‘why’. I was able to articulate exactly my ‘why’ for each of the three blogs that I write weekly. But, her asking gave me a reason to verbalize a concise reason for my motivation.

Why Do We Do What We Do?

Sometimes, we don’t know why we do what we ...

What Soil Are You Planted In?

Some of you may know that I love to garden. I also love house plants. Over the past few years I have been trying to systematically replace all my old fake plants with real live plants.

I knew in order to do it well, on a budget, and in a way to be able to keep up with them, I had to do it one or two at a time.

Gardening is My Hobby

I often post about my plants on FB and word has gotten around that many of my plants have been given to me by friends who know I love them. Often they are plants the...

The Most Toxic Contagion

With the past two years living in this pandemic we hear certain words frequently. One is carrier and another is contagion.

We Are All Carriers of Something

The other day I was thinking about certain people in my life and how being around them just made me feel better in general. Then I realized that there were yet others through the years that, despite my best efforts, would bring me down.

Then I realized we are all carriers of something. We all have an emotional and spiritual contagion that w...

Love Does Miracles

As I am writing this it is the eve of Christmas Eve 2021. The house is very quiet around me. I live alone and work at home. I joke that I am an introvert. Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. I do enjoy being home alone and working from home. But, sometimes I miss people.

Today, seems strange to me. Because of sick family members, I am not sure  what our Christmas is going to look like this year. Some plans are up in the air, some are still on, but who will be coming is still unknown. By the time you are...
