It tries to describe the way we connect with people at work, in our family, and in romantic relationships. This theory proposes that there are four types or styles, ranging from "secure" to "avoidant" to "anxious" to "fixated." At different times of our lives, and with different people, we may exhibit different styles.

Thinking back to my own life and what I've observed with friends and family members, I realized there's definitely something to the theory. So I thought, "What would happen if I wrote a book with four main characters, each of whom exhibits one of these styles? And what would happen if we throw these characters together in a big city, mixing different generations and even different cultures?

The result -- in the world of modern-day Chicago depicted in my book -- is a bit of "Sex and the City" with Mr. Big in every episode, and "The Affair" with Jessica Jones as the lead character.

I hope readers enjoy seeing how it all plays out on the page!(less)

Means of Ascent by Robert A. Caro
"At just over 400 pages, this is by far the shortest Caro book, and I finished it in two weeks. Caro structured it to stand alone, but as someone who read the first volume, I appreciated the continuity, especially his repeated use of Johnson’s driving" Read more of this review »

The Society of the Spectacle by Guy Debord
"This is a great work, even though a lot of the parts went over my head due to Debord’s very academic language. The parts which did click for me were really resonant. It’s like Plato’s allegory of the cave has been adapted to consumerism/materialism. " Read more of this review »
If We Burn by Vincent Bevins
"Loved the interviews with people who were actually there. They really tell the story, and the lessons which need to be drawn. Rather than the author imposing his viewpoint. A good takeaway I gathered is that sometimes you got to know when to retreat," Read more of this review »
