Rupert Wolfe Murray started writing after being expelled from Tibet.

Rupert got his first break with the Daily Telegraph who paid him £500 for an eyewitness article about the riot he'd witnessed in Lhasa.

The travel book that followed, 9 Months in Tibet, was well received and one journalist described its humour as "Deadpan". A leading Tibetan scholar said that it was "unputdownable". In the foreword, Alexander McCall Smith describes it as "a highly readable and engaging book..."

Recently he has published a fairy tale, a book about his late mother (founder and director of Canongate Publishing) and a travel book about Nepal (Himalayan Bus Plunge). Next up is a book about Romania and one about the corruption of international adoptions.

Mexico: A Coca Cola-Colony?

By Aidan Wolfe Murray

I found myself on the shores of the Yucatan in the scorching heat of summer, with only the pack on my back and a handful of rumours about where I was.

Mexico, land of the ancients. A great peninsula stretching from the base of the USA all the way into Central America. One enormous coastline treading the mighty Pacific and the other surfing the warm waters of the Caribbean. As  Read more of this blog post »

I want to start off by saying that there are so many things I really enjoyed.

"QUICK-ISH TAKE: Stick with me here.⁣

Ordinary Monsters is a f*cking mess. It’s epically long at 672 pages, with a sprawling cast of characters, an unwieldy system of magic, a school for gifted youth that feels very familiar, and some muddled characte" Read more of this review »
The Happy Nomad by Charlotte Bradman
"I first thought that Charlotte was a similar age to myself as some of her experiences were similar to my own. Charlotte is younger, highlighting that not so much has changed re domestic abuse (esp for women from small, stuck in time, places).

The Happy Nomad by Charlotte Bradman
"A great read. I love biographies, but especially biographies about travelling.

This is Charlotte's story of how she came to come out of a relationship and sell her house, and bought a campervan. Something many people dream of but never do. I really e" Read more of this review »
