Born and raised on a small farm in southeast Texas, my life was ordinary. The internet, video games and all subsequent modern technology had not been invented yet, so books were my gateway to the world. Reading transported me to places far away and easily became my addiction. To secure some quiet time, I hid on the barn roof under the shade of an over-reaching tree limb and read for hours, ignoring my mother's voice as she called me to my chores. Now in my autumn years, I still spend most days with my nose stuck in a book and have a hard time driving by bookstores, yard sales and flea markets...anywhere you can find stories and characters in the pages of books.
