A former social studies supervisor for a school district in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Keith Veverka loves writing, history, and education; all of which came together for his first novel, The Gilded Sanctum.

Keith began his teaching career twenty-five years ago at a public school in Virginia, not far from the fictional academy in his story. Having lived and worked in the area for several years, he was intimately familiar with the state’s rich Civil War history, which provided the perfect backdrop for this mystery thriller.

It takes many, many bricks to build a novel or non-fiction book, so I have certainly struggled with how to make one or more of those bricks fit into the overall structure. However, instead of being paralyzed by it, I simply move onto another brick and work on that one. Eventually I’ll find my way back to the brick I was struggling with, and now that the framework of the novel is more secure (the plot has developed, the characters have more dimension, the themes are more delineated), this part of the story becomes much more clear in my mind. Just take it one brick at a time because there’s no defined order until you’ve finished the book.(less)
