HARBINGERS

Strange and dangerous creatures are stalking the quiet streets of Port Hollow. The locals are dying. The gates of the underworld have been opened and things are escalating fast. Unless the witches of Port Hollow can find a way to stop it, darkness will soon overrun the earth.

But stopping all hell from breaking loose is easier said than done. Because protecting the world from the coming darkness may mean doing the unthinkable…

The Claiming now enrolled in KDP Select

Hi everyone, quick update - The Claiming is now enrolled in KDP Select. If you have a Kindle Unlimited account, you can now read it as part of your subscription. I made this choice because the bulk of my sales come from Amazon and I'd like to make the book accessible to as many potential readers as possible. However, this does mean making The Claiming exclusive to Amazon for the next 90 days, so it is no longer available on Barnes & Noble, Kobo, or iTunes.

Harbingers Release & Writerly Update

First off, I want to wish everyone reading this a happy and safe holiday. I know this can be a hectic and stressful time of the year, so please stay safe, enjoy yourselves, and put your mental health front and center.

Second, I have some exciting news to share for the new year!

The biggest piece of news is that Harbingers (book 3 of the Port Hollow Witches series) is now done. It's actually been "finished" for a few weeks now, but I wanted to make sure that I'm putting out the best book I can, so I'm working on getting as many eyes on it as possible before it releases. I realize that I'm a little late finishing this (I was hoping to have it done in time for Christmas), but it ended up being way longer than I had originally planned and I decided to go with the story that grew organically instead of forcing it to be exactly what I'd planned. It's much better as a result. Harbingers is currently pretty close to 100K words vs. the 70K that I had initially thought it would be. Harbingers picks up right where The Claiming leaves off and follows Kendra Garrity and Deborah Chamberlain as they battle the forces of darkness in very different ways. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that the consequences of events from The Claiming are more severe for the town of Port Hollow than anyone could have predicted, with plenty of magic and mayhem afoot. It's been a ton of fun to write. My updated release date is going to be January 23rd.

*** By the way, THE CLAIMING will remain on sale for 99 cents until Harbingers releases, available on all major eBook retailers. Or you can get a copy for FREE by signing up for my mailing list at www.glennwilliamsauthor.net ***

I'm also going to be releasing a shorter side-story about Pike, the town Sheriff, as he grapples with the realization that magic, monsters, and witchcraft are all very real. His story was originally going to be a major part of Harbingers, but I realized about 75% of the way through his plotline that he needs his own book (novella length). There are only 3 scenes left to write for his plot, so it's already pretty much done. I'll be releasing his story shortly after Harbingers comes out, hopefully in early Feburary.

Non-bookish stuff:

I did a complete re-design on my website and I hope that you guys will check it out and let me know what you think: www.glennwilliamsauthor.net
I'll be adding an FAQ section and a contact form very soon. I'll also be starting a blog devoted to the fantasy & horror genre, along posts related to the indie author life.

I'm also working with an amazing cover designer to rebrand the Port Hollow Witches series. I'll be re-releasing Devil's Bane and The Claiming with the new cover designs in the first half of the new year. I'm really excited (too excited, probably!) about this and I'm looking forward to sharing updates about this with you guys. She's an amazing designer and I think you guys are going to absolutely love her!

Anyway, that's all I have. Wishing all of you a happy and safe holiday season and an amazing new year!!

DEVIL'S BANE

Rory has a secret, one that he protects with powerful enchantments: he has fallen in love with an outsider. Worse yet, he has broken the cardinal rule of his coven: he has revealed their secrets. The punishment for his crime is death.

But Rory has a hidden enemy. Someone has already discovered his secrets. And he knows that it is only a matter of time before the coven enacts swift and brutal vengeance for his betrayal. He is living on borrowed time unless he can find out who it is and stop them.

But when the coven is attacked from all sides and the dead begin to rise in Port Hollow, Rory learns that the outsider he has fallen in love with is the key that will unleash an ancient evil upon the world. He must choose between the coven he has pledged his loyalty to and the love he cannot live without.

Challenge Complete!

So, as it turns out sleep is important.

My 24-hour challenge took about 28 hours (I foolishly allowed myself time for sleep and the occasional break from writing), but I'm done with the first draft of my new novella, Devil's Bane. I could have written a bit faster, but I ended up making a few departures from my plan. It ultimately made for a better story, but it also meant that it took a bit longer to write.

At just over 20,000 words, Devil's Bane is pretty tightly paced. It follows Rory, Gwydion, and the coven in the events that led up to The Claiming.

I have to say, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm hoping to have it completely edited and ready to go by the end of April or early May.

Epic 24 Hour Challenge

So I've decided to do something crazy.

I'm about halfway done with a new Novella I'm working on (10,000 words so far) and I'm loving it. It's one of those stories that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let you do anything else until you write it.

Unfortunately, I've been writing one scene per day and that's a bit too slow going since I have other quite a few other projects I'd like to finish up as well.

Then I saw a post on nanowrimo writing sprints and it got me thinking...what if I could just finish up my project? Not in a month, but sooner than that. What if I could push myself to write the other half of my novella in just 1 day? Plenty of other writers can produce an entire novella in 1 day. I'm only aiming for half that, plus I already have an outline and a solid understanding of my characters. I like my chances.

I'm going to do it.

By this time tomorrow, I will have a first draft finished. Wish me luck!

Free to download on Saturday!

Exciting news!

The Claiming (The Port Hollow Witches #1) will be free to download all day tomorrow on Amazon.
Check it out here

I'm still working on #2 in the series - I'm close to halfway done with the first draft!

I'm also working on another Port Hollow story, Demons & Silk, following Kathryn, the poisonous and seductive mind-reading witch with the heart of a hero. I'm posting chapters of that story to Wattpad for free every Thursday. Check it out here

Cheers!

The Claiming is now live on Amazon

A happy day today!

After working with the Hollow Hill story world for nearly 3 years, The Claiming: The Hollow Hill Witches #1 is now live on Amazon ($2.99 and free to read for Kindle Unlimited subscribers).

Book #2 in the series is well underway. I'm hoping to release it in June.

On a personal note, The Claiming is also my debut novel. I've tried to work on other projects, but Hollow Hill is the story world that just wouldn't leave me alone. It practically demanded to be written. It's hard to adequately put into words all of the emotions that come along with finally putting my work out into the world. Suffice it to say, I'm really excited to be sharing it!
