Roman & Gunner: Office Gossip - Deleted Scene

I sit at my desk, staring at the reports in front of me. The numbers blur, replaced by the only image I can’t shake: Sophia’s wide eyes, her flushed cheeks, the way her ponytail swayed as she turned her head, sending that intoxicating scent wafting my way. My hand tightens on the pen, the tip snapping under the pressure.

“Fucking unbelievable,” Gunner’s voice cuts through the haze as he barrels into my office, slamming the door shut behind him.

I glance up, trying to mask the chaos roiling in my chest, but it’s no use. Gunner’s sharp eyes catch everything. “What’s unbelievable, Gunner?” My tone is clipped, but it doesn’t faze him.

“She’s here. Miles’ daughter.” He flops into the chair across from me, spreading his long legs like he owns the room. “And holy hell, Sophie is a fucking knockout.”

“It’s Sophia,” I correct, my voice colder than I intended. I roll the broken pen between my fingers, trying to keep my composure. “And she’s off-limits.”

Gunner barks out a laugh. “Yeah? Good luck with that, big guy. Did you see her? Jesus Christ, Roman, you’re sitting here acting like you didn’t notice the way she walked into this place and turned it upside down.”

I glare at him. “Keep your voice down.”

“Oh, relax. Miles isn’t lurking in the damn walls.” Gunner leans forward, his grin wicked. “But seriously, what the hell was he thinking? Bringing her here. To us. It’s like handing a pack of wolves a lamb and saying, ‘Don’t eat.’”

My grip tightens on the pen until the plastic creaks. “She’s not a lamb.”

“No, she’s not. She’s more like... temptation wrapped in a tight little package. And that tank top? Those leggings? Jesus, I’m only human.” Gunner scrubs a hand through his messy hair, his grin softening into something almost boyish. “Did you catch the way she looked at you?”

My jaw tightens. “What are you talking about?”

“Oh, come on, Roman. Don’t play dumb. She practically froze when she saw you, like she couldn’t decide if she wanted to run or crawl across your desk.” He pauses, his grin widening. “And the way you looked at her... man, if looks could undress.”

“Enough,” I snap, the sharpness in my voice making Gunner hold up his hands in mock surrender.

“Relax, Bambino,” he says, smirking at the nickname he knows will irritate me. “I’m just saying, Miles has lost his damn mind. Does he honestly think we’re going to keep our distance? That we can?”

“We have to.” The words come out like a growl. “Miles trusts us.”

“And that’s his first mistake.” Gunner’s grin fades, replaced by something darker, more serious. “He should know better than to dangle someone like Sophie in front of us. Especially with how things ended with Bella.”

I don’t respond, the mention of Bella digging into old wounds I’d rather forget. Gunner leans back, watching me like he’s waiting for me to break.

“She’s trouble,” I say finally, the weight of the words settling in the room.

Gunner nods, his smirk returning, softer this time. “Yeah. The kind of trouble you don’t walk away from.”

Before I can respond, my office door creaks open, and we both freeze. Sophia stands in the doorway, her wide eyes darting between us. My heart slams against my ribs.

“Am I interrupting?” she asks, her voice soft, hesitant.

Gunner’s grin spreads, easy and charming. “Not at all, Sophie. We were just talking about you.”

Her cheeks turn pink, and she looks to me for reassurance. I can’t speak, my throat tight as I watch her shift under the weight of our stares.

“Roman?” Her voice pulls me out of my daze, and I force myself to stand, my movements slow, deliberate.

“You’re not interrupting,” I say, my voice steady despite the chaos inside. “What do you need, Sophia?”

She hesitates, then smiles, the kind of smile that could shatter a man. “I just... wanted to ask where I could find some supplies for my office.”

“I’ll show you,” Gunner says, standing before I can respond. He throws me a look, a mix of mischief and warning, then turns back to her. “Come on, Sophie. I’ll give you the grand tour.”

She nods, her ponytail bouncing as she steps back to let him lead the way. Gunner pauses at the door, glancing back at me with a grin that’s equal parts challenge and promise.

“You coming, Roman?” he asks, his tone teasing.

I stay rooted in place, my hands curling into fists at my sides. “Go ahead,” I say, my voice low.

As the door closes behind them, I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. The tension in my chest doesn’t ease. If anything, it tightens, because I know Gunner’s right.

We’re all completely, utterly screwed.

Following along as Gwen builds up her self esteem and friendship with Valerie is easily envisioned. Teddy, a professional soccer career has never had to chase a woman, Gwen is the first. However, as he falls into immediate lust with this curvy woman, Gwen begins to dream of another, Daniel, Teddy's Father. Oh, decisions, decisions.I truly appreciate a well written romance and this is definitely one.

Although this release is part of a Series, it can be read as a standalone.

Once Teddy is out of the picture Gwen remembers that she has a date to go on with Daniel since she won him at the auction. After that day things begin to get steamy between Daniel and Gwen. Will Teddy feel betrayed by his dad once he finds out about the relationship between Gwen and his dad?

 I had simple goals. Move to a small town don't date women that hate my guts. Unless she's sexy, has curves in all the right places and needs a fake fiancee too. Easy Right? Wrong!

This was the first story in the Teacher's Virgin series of books. This idea came from a summer trip that my husband and I made one year to Vermont for a wedding. If you are ever in Vergennes Vermont you should stop by the little French bakery on the main street. You can't miss it but, they are closed on Mondays. Mondays are crappy days without my espresso!

We stayed in a cute secluded Airbnb right on Lake Champlain which is where Aggie lives with her very wealthy husband Mr. Sternhouse. The grounds were gorgeous with lots of big towering trees, flowers everywhere and a couple of canoes for us to play with on the lake.

Aggie was not supposed to be a likable character at all but my readers surprisingly fell in love with her which is why I went on to write another two books in the series.

The second and third books included more of Aggie and the response to that was greater with each release.

I didn't like Aggie and you weren't supposed to like her either.
I portrayed her as a selfish, cold, and powerful woman with a huge sex drive but you loved that! 

The idea for that character came from a woman that I worked for as an eighteen-year-old. I was the mail girl and receptionist and to me, she was a woman to fear and the woman that I would report to. I was a bit of a hellion at that age.

The woman I worked for was a beautiful middle-aged southern woman with a thick drawl, the perfect slender figure always dressed to the nines and an outdated beehive hairstyle but she knew how to pull it off. She was cold, scary, and I was always in trouble with her for being a constant 5 minutes late.

There is a scene in this book where I describe the teacher looking down Lisa's shirt. That actually happened to me at that same place of business as an eighteen-year-old.

The man was middle-aged good looking he knew it and married to a woman that worked in the same building. He was notorious for flirting but, at just eighteen I was still pretty innocent. I did have a crush on him but, it was so harmless. He would make me laugh and it was nice to be around him. It was just a bonus that he was cute.

One day as I was putting away misplaced files in front of his office, I had to bend down and open the bottom drawer. He liked that.

I had no idea that he could see straight down my shirt. He told me that I had a nice rack, nice tits, or something that was completely offensive and embarrassing in the workplace and the guy is married! My face went red, I felt hurt and betrayed because I thought we had a different relationship.

He was mortified by my response. Most likely because he thought he was in big trouble. After that I had such a hard time being around him and he avoided me like the plague for about a week. I think it took me to say its ok but you hurt my feelings. His response was I thought that was what you girls wanted.
